I feel like maybe you don’t actually really like Star Trek?

You can easily say that this is because he knew none of these deaths were going to stick. As a matter of fact, when he did win, he agreed to Lorca’s terms to let the crew go when he turned the ship over to the Klingons. He just as easily could have killed everyone on the ship save for Burnham, handed her and the ship

This was the most Star Trek ending of the show they could have possibly done. If you look at old TOS/TNG episodes the resolution is almost always “You’re gonna have to deal with the consequences in your world” rather than “We’re taking you to Federation space jail.”

How do you convict someone of murder when the people he murdered weren’t even harmed?

“Robbing them” get out of here with this nonsense.

It’s remarkable that this show just seems to keep getting better and more enjoyable with every passing episode. This one definitely felt the most like an old-school episode of Star Trek with some updated effects (The party, a little bit of tuned-up violence), especially the ending. At this point, anyone who is trying

Road Rash 3d for the PS1. If you turn around and run the track in the opposite direction it will keep going forever and police will chase you down, creating what me and a friend dubbed “Hot Pursuit Mode”. We’d continue until we got taken out (At which point the game would bring you back to the start) and compare times

You want the perfect marshmallow for s’mores? Microwave it.

I don’t know if I’d go as far to say it was a rip off, (except for the dog through the window, that was very clearly an “Homage”), but I do wish that more people recognized that as the grandfather of the modern survival horror and not RE.

Dude I am with you ONE THOUSAND PERCENT

Sure yeah that’s the same thing.

But should stories like these dilute the message (i.e. a lot of women just seek attention with it)

Your commitment to character is wonderful.

So is what you’re doing right now “Asshole signaling”?

Virtually all other phrases and words have remained intact until that period of time, why wouldn’t the swear words?

I think that since ST:V the “audience” for Star Trek shows has been “People who already watch Star Trek”. You can argue that’s why those later series struggled. You can say what you want about Discovery, but they are trying new things with the background, and if they want to aim that story at a more mature audience,

Do we expect every person in this universe to act the same way? Is that what “good writing” is?

I’d be more inclined to agree if the line was uttered in combat (Lorca saying “Take that, motherfucker!”, etc.) but this was said by a character who very clearly has little understanding of social mores who was excited about a scientific breakthrough and it was said in an excited and hopeful manner. This is a show

The target audience of a universe that’s over 50 years old should be able to handle a singular f-bomb uttered in excitement about a scientific discovery.

I just don’t know if “Do people want us to swear?” Is something that writers should consider when writing a story. For or against. If “We should swear because people think it will be edgy!” is a bad way of writing (which it is) so is “We shouldn’t swear because what will people think!?”
