The new movement toward fragmented consoles and blurring of generations will definitely help move new games toward better quality tiers if they think they can get more long term sales on a title due to the quality having longer legs.

I believe in you. You just got to read it a few more times.
Sales. Great part is you not comprehending it, doesn’t make it any less true.
Between 1 and 2 should have minimal bearing on between 2 and 3.
The games in question for this article, are Mass Effect 2 and 3. The games you just said were developed with PC in mind. The games that I am saying had terrible textures when compared to other games the years they were released, even to games that were released prior. The highest settings for ME 2 and 3 were hardly…
Enlighten me. My post was saying that for the time, the textures were terrible. Look at other games that year, even open world ones on PC and the textures of ME2 are put to shame. I didn’t say that the systems could handle *these* 4k textures, I said that the textures should have been higher quality from go. Going…
When I see the name tag in the video still above, I doubt that texture started as a blurry mess. A downsampled texture for the console side didn’t have to translate to reduced quality on the PC end. Its the reason that a lot of PC games are updated later with an extra large texture pack. The assets aren’t recreated…
The reason as to why from what is essentially a political position, isn’t necessarily relevant. They didn’t put in the effort to have a proper PC release, which is made very clear when you compare the texture detail to other games released the same year and the fact that the reduced detail seems to be n across the…
Yep. Totally whiney thinking that a name tag should be more than a smudge.
Mass Effect 2 was released in 2010. If this was a mod showcase of the first game which was released in 2007, you might have an argument. The original assets were also nowhere near what they could have been on even a 720p display. They were muddy as hell on low resolution displays as well.
The first game is a poor means of comparison. Improvements over a game that had shit textures and poor execution of materials in the game does not cure the ills of the next two.
It’s OK, try to re-read it really slowly. Or perhaps find someone nearby who can read it for you.
The PC game didn’t need to be gimped to accommodate the console crowd.
This is a mod for the PC version of the game. The consoles could have kept their necessary textures, the PC didn’t need tp be handicapped. 2k was more than readily available at the time for PC monitors. Those textures looked terrible no matter what resolution you played the game at. Even at 720p the textures were…
The fact those textures ever shipped with that game is appalling.
Pot meet kettle? You wrote a five paragraph response to someone who wasn’t saying what you wrote a response to.
Perhaps put more time into reading the comment, than commenting on it.
