Thief as a series was always steampunk and its style probably influenced the games you mention (especially Dishonored) - the main stylistic difference with this reboot seems to be that Garrett is more 'goth', with black fingernails and eyeliner.

This is a bit like the very underrated Tweeny Witches. I loved that series, and the soundtrack for it was amazing.

As a huge fan of anime, I found the animation to be exquisite. They took an exaggerated Disney style approach to the movements of the characters and it came out looking more refreshing than anything to come out of Japan in quite some time (IMO).

Definitely has a GAINAX feel to it.
