It’s interesting that they are bumping up against the ring and pinion for torque limit. I think back in the TJ era a Dana 44 was a helluva upgrade axle set, but given the weight and size gain of these things it sounds like they are just barely keeping pace. I think the Wrangler is getting the point where it can’t get

We are going through the same thing shopping for my wife’s new wrangler. We’ve owned 2dr and 4dr units before and now we want a 4dr 6speed which is near impossible to find. I frankly don’t think I need to test drive it but she wants me to. They are not easy to find! She drove one 2 states away when we were visiting a

Don't worry, the bronco will knock the prices down once it's released.

Mid-engined RWD sportscar, meet snow.  Have you met snow’s friend, wall?

High MSRPs don’t matter when you finance for 84 months.

I genuinely never thought I’d see the day when people buy $60k Jeeps, but we’ve been there for a while.  I have no idea whether this will sell but it will not surprise me given how insanely popular Jeeps are right now.

Have your star... as much as I love a manual - this is the correct take.

To be fair as cool as the option would be this might not be a great application for a manual. The kind of low speed crawling/off-roading a big diesel helps with I feel like is easier and better with a torque converter in the mix - especially paired with any sort of electronic driver aids. A big torquey diesel, low

This is a great article, David.

I’ve been saying this exact same thing for years. That badge/logo is pure garbage, and every time I see it, I’m reminded of Kia’s beginnings as a purveyor of shitboxes.

I like the direction they are going but at the end of the day, I can’t shake the “it’s a Kia” feeling. If they maybe updated the logo, which harkens back to when they were plain as can be, to the point of invisible, it would engage with buyers more.  Brand image is an important thing.

shame that so few also follow the hatchback functionality too. makes for a much more usable car.

I know that Kia/Hyundai is trying to move Hyundai upmarket, (and it’s subjective) but Kia has had the better implementation of their platforms for the last 2 gens of cars, to me. The current and last Gen Optima looked better to my eye than the Sonata. The Telluride is the better looking than the Palisade. I think the

Looks great, but it has the same issue that the Accord, Sonata, and Fusion all had.

My wife and I would buy electric cars tomorrow if they made one that was the size of a Model S or X but a lot more affordable. She was really excited about the Bolt until she saw it was the size of a golf cart. We’re too grown for subcompact cars.

I actually love the look of the 2nd Gen Volt, I think the Bolt is nerdy and function and fine, but the Gen 1 Volt aged POORLY.

Why wouldn’t it?  It knows it’ll get bailed out.

The Volt should have been a Cadillac, with a bigger gas engine, and marketed as the 3-series class Tesla fighter it could have been. Instead of supercharging, the Cadillac Volt’s killer app would be the gas engine.

GM is gradually returning to its shitty old ways pre-recession. Just seems like the last 3 years of products (Corvette aside - though I do have my reservations about C8) and general design language/build quality has been generally awful.

I don’t understand. Both Chevy and Mercedes do not bring vehicles to North America that would likely sell well....Chevy with this, and Mercedes with the X-Class trucks. I don’t care what image they want to portray but if making money is the goal then bring the fucking vehicles here too.
