I don’t get why people are criticizing this post.

I think this holds true even for long term fans of the genre. I’m 30 years old with two kids and, if I have the time to play a game, it’s increasingly hard to spend that time playing a game that takes so long to accomplish anything and will likely be predictable.

I have no idea what this post even means.

Seeing Arcanum on that list makes me strongly consider finally getting around to playing it.

Oh and, to your point, it does also make me wonder how annoying characters like Gau or Mog would be if there were created today with voice actors. Makes me glad for the days when JRPGs let you fill in the gaps with your own imagination instead of annoying voice actors.

I think the point behind Riki though is that he turned out to *not* be just a 2 year old incompetent spaz. He subverted the dumb non-human cutesy character stereotype in more significant ways than most other JRPGs.

I strongly disagree with this one.
