I look forward to reading the AVClub’s article two years from now:

It makes it sound just really bad.  Thinking of all the crap that makes it to theaters and streaming, to say this is completely not releasable, I agree, it seems unnecessarily harsh to all involved.

Keep trying. Because hammering away again at how totesly poopsly it was and how we are, in fact, doing you good people a favor, you ingrates, is definitely required over just quietly dropping it into a fire because you somehow got away with the grift.

I don’t know. If it really was so bad as that you couldn’t ever release it, why would you talk up the people who made the huge, flaming pile of dogshit and want to work with them again? While we can’t be 100% sure either way, this does come off as trying to calm down the internet chatter about how much the merger is

I don’t think they needed to say anything else about it tbh, but sticking with the previous announcement of “it doesn’t fit with the future of the DCEU” would have been fine.

They even had a perfect out. “There’s things about the film we like, but it wasn’t there yet and needed more work, and since we’re taking the DC universe in a fully new direction with James Gunn, we just couldn’t justify spending more at this point.”

it remains EXTREMELY funny that the company line has to be ‘no no no, look we know we’ve released some bad stuff but this was serious dogshit. absolutely no way. would have completely ruined us as a company. of course we are still in talks with those great creative minds who made something so bad we can’t release it.’

It would be so easy to couch it in better language. “It was unreleasable [in it’s current state].”  As it stands it is unnecessarily shitting on the the people involved.

You are projecting. You’re the one that keeps harping on Kotaku here.

For the record, I’m fully behind whatever Roiland has coming to him.

So your whole argument is that Kotaku should’ve reported this at a previous date (when exactly? Was 2018 the limit or would’ve 2019 been ok?) or not report it at all now?

What does “recently revealed” mean to you?

Ah I see. Next you’re gonna explain that it’s actually ephebophilia NOT pedophilia.

There is no statute of limitations for reporting news, you’re clearly being disingenuous.

There’s a thread on Twitter with multiple victims posting their stories and DMs/texts from Roiland. It’s starting to sound like he was grooming girls as young as 16.

This is my fault, guys. I wished for Wonder Woman 3 on the magic wishing stone and the wish is going wrong in annoying ways.

I mean, that statement applies to pretty much everything on the internet.

One thing I like about Gunn, he doesn't let shit fester.

The ultrasound sketch and her turn on Weekend Update really show Sarah Sherman’s emergence (I’m in love), and the overall turn towards absurdism is very welcome. Weekend Update also had some actually great jokes today.  The choir one kind of sucked but overall it was a good episode that really gave most of the cast

The decision feels all the more frustrating when a more compelling and provocative cold open could have focused on the Donald Trump/Kanye West dinner at Mar-a-Lago with a noted White supremacist. This collision between politics, celebrity, and serious social issues feels like the kind of material SNL should
