Look closer. The “docking arm” is connected to something in the ENGINES. The hatch Lando used was near the portside boarding hatch.
FYI, we do see a Rebel frigate exchanging fire with Executor at close range in Jedi.
Maybe it’s because I’m just not familiar with the game mechanics, but it seems to me that many of those ships are operating WAY too close together, giving them no room to maneuver.
