There are a lot of responses above explaining to you why you’re wrong. Why conflating THIS situation with THAT situation is wrong. You are simply wrong. And frankly, when it comes to rapists and armed robbers and other violent criminals, I don’t give one tiny shit about them spending the rest of their lives in prison.

President Obama would disagree that ground game doesn’t matter.

Yeah, I see no problem with keeping actual violent criminals in prison.

I think most judges are intelligent enough to understand the difference.

I think other judges intelligent enough to understand the difference.

The same judge also admitted pictures of a rape survivor around a year after she was gang-raped (by college athletes, civil case) at a different party. How the fact that she didn’t go into hiding forever after being raped is relevant to holding her rapists AT LEAST civilly liable is beyond me. She lost her civil case.

I just can’t feel that bad for Floridians any more. They RE-elected this guy. THIS GUY.

Also, btw, prior bad acts aren’t generally allowed to show guilt of the instant offense. They generally are allowed to disprove testimony. If I testify, e.g., that I have never had a drink in my life, evidence that I got hammered last week will usually be admissible.

As you can see from the link, the turd’s lies about drugs/drinking was absolutely presented to the judge. The prior bad acts rule doesn’t apply, because this is sentencing, by a judge, not finding guilt, by a jury.

For sentencing purposes the judge can pretty much see whatever good/bad info he cares to look at. For example, the victim’s sister submitted a letter as that is now part of the record. The women’s swim team could have sent letters to the prosecution that they could have then submitted to the judge. As the story says,

The info (from the idiot’s own phone) was presented by the prosecution to the judge, for sentencing purposes (looser rules than determining guilt). The judge 100% knew the turd lied about his drug/drinking history, and gave him only six months ANYWAY.

He also lied about his drinking/drugging history. His own cell phone was full of pictures of him partying and drinking, and requests to buy drugs. He’s a perjurer as well as a vaguely human-shaped piece of shit rapist, the judge knew this, and STILL gave him this ridiculous sentence.
