I was just reading an older article about Sims. Actually, the success of his vesicovaginal fistula treatments were greatly exaggerated (by him), and it was found that some of the treatments he claimed to pioneer were in fact previously discovered and practiced elsewhere.
This is the dark side to medicine. We owe a great deal of modern medical knowledge to sadistic experiments from the 1800's, through ww2, and even into more modern history. It would be irresponsible to ignore it, but reprehensible to forget it.
Comey’s response to why he reopened the email investigation is woefully inadequate. What he’s telling us is that if he didn’t think Hilary was going to win, then the case wouldn’t have been reopened, which indicates that pursuing justice wasn’t his motivation.
There are still tens of millions of people in this country who are pretty much OK with having Baby Mussolini as our president.
“young bucks”
You are absolutely insane.
It says a lot about the sad state of the Trump team’s defense that they’re relying on the idea that they had an expectation of privacy using a govt email system.
Lorca is so much more interesting to me if he’s just a flawed, damaged, and ruthless man, doing the best he can in a system that’s better than he is. We already know the Federation has a shady underside, so people like him aren’t unheard of; we just haven’t followed them previously.
What if Lorca IS editing the 133rd jump from the archive because he added one that wasn’t needed to complete the scan of the ship but was needed to finish his map of Whatever He’s Up To. He thinks they are going back to starbase and once the Federation has access to the full log they will figure out that there were…
And if that does happen, then I see her as taking over the role of the Captain-with-morals
Well, first female nipples.
Maybe Lorca is trying to get home? Maybe he’s from the mirror universe and was smart enough to try and blend in until he found a way home?
I also think that if they did indeed end up in an alternate universe, perhaps in this one Georgiou is still alive. This would explain why they cast such a major star in that role only to apparently kill her off so soon. And if that does happen, then I see her as taking over the role of the Captain-with-morals who has…
I’ve been saying pretty much this since the second episode.
So the next episode will be their take on “Where no man has gone before” with Starmets pulling a Gary Mitchell? Yummy! :)
I assume that because the Spore Drive doesn’t really move you through space, the system used for it doesn’t follow the same rules.
Is Lorca really positioned to be a villain though? Or just a complex, nuanced character suffering PTSD, whose intentions we don’t 100% know yet?
No-Prize explanation: They’re using an indexing system that includes 0.
I’ve read elsewhere the theory that this isn’t the original Lorca. There was that moment between him and Cornwell, and he couldn’t recall a shared memory she brought up. Because of that (and probably other things I’ve forgotten), there was the theory that he was the Klingon spy, replaced when he was abducted, and…
