Gin martinis have been my staple while stuck at home.  I typically do 2 parts gin to 1 part dry vermouth.  The kind of vermouth makes a HUGE difference.  My new favorite has been Carpano vermouth.  However, I prefer my martini on the rocks - a giant ice cube.

Ugh. And when does her patron’s and employee’s rights to not get sick trump her rights to run a business? Even my Conservative parents are pissed off about the lack of mask wearing, because they worry about getting sick, and they’re part of an at-risk population.

It depends on the restaurant, from what I can tell.  I got Hawaiian BBQ takeout, and apparently their business has been very slow.  And I know others with a loyal following of patrons, have been slammed.  It also helps if you’re selling drinks or bottles of wine to-go.  I know being able to sell booze has helped keep

Yup. I’ve read a few things about restaurants. If they were lucky enough to get a PPP loan, they could possibly get by for a few months. But when you can only fill half your restaurant with people, have minimal to-go orders, that still may not be enough to survive, once the loan money runs out. One restaurant near me

There’s also the risk of getting shingles when you’re old, after having chicken pox. I’ve known some old people who have had shingles, and it’s pretty awful for them. It’s better to get the chickenpox vaccine so you don’t have to deal with any of that!

Welp, it’s not 2 million dead so a job well done, I guess. /sarcasm

I read this a few days ago. Basically, there’s some thought that by wearing a mask, it makes men feel less masculine. It’s so damn ridiculous.

It’s sad.  I always thought that J. Crew had nice basics, that were hard to find at other stores.  But I have seen the quality decline over the years and the prices go up.  I’m also pretty sure their target audience was either priced out or moved on to different brands.  I still like the basic, preppy looks of their

I’m all for streaming at home, especially if you don’t need surround sound or 3D glasses. That’s an entirely different movie experience that’s hard to find at many homes.

It’s infuriating to see our leaders refuse to follow guidelines.

I want to believe Tara Reade. I really do. I’ve read about it. There are some gaps. The Russian / Putin connection is troubling. However, if you look at these politicians and celebrities that assault women, it’s not usually an isolated incident. I hate saying this, but it’s going to take more women coming out against

Looks amazing!

I have a neighbor who had to take in her mother, who had Alzheimer’s. She quit her job as a hairdresser to do the full time caretaking. I couldn’t imagine the hell she went through. Her mom needed 24-7 supervision. And there wasn’t enough money for home health aides or a nursing home. My neighbor did this for several

Tofu is awesome, especially when prepared properly. I once took a tofu class at the local Asian market near me.  There was this tofu salad, made with firm tofu, ginger, garlic, and green onion, plus chili sauce.  I could eat that any day.  It really is a versatile protein.

I can’t even anymore.

I just killed my 2nd box of wine today.  I do love a good craft cocktail, but even being at home, I don’t have the patience for all of the measuring and syrup making and juicing.  I have made a few simple cocktails, such as martinis or palomas, but that’s about it.

I was in Vegas in November. There’s no way you could keep all of those slot machines sanitized. Or the playing cards, or the dice. I get that Vegas is especially hard hit with the casinos closed, but do you want a bunch of your tourists and citizens killed?

So many, including myself, in the metro Atlanta area are so pissed off about this. Maybe it makes sense for some of the rural counties that have 5 confirmed cases and 0 deaths to re-open. Then again, those rural counties aren’t the economic drivers of the state. And the industries he chose to re-open are ridiculous.

I’m a DINK.  And even though my husband makes more than me, my salary is still more than what the average family of 4 has.  I don’t think we’ll get a check, but my husband thinks we’ll get something.  We don’t need it.  He’s still making the same salary.  I got a 10% cut, but still working.  We have savings.  For now,
