When you work for the government, they generally make you retire after a certain number of years in service, or by age 70. Even outside of government most companies don’t employ 88-year olds for senior positions. They are kinda forced into retirement. Again not a firing.

He wasn’t entitled to this position, so it’s not a firing. The job serves at the pleasure of the president-elect. He was retired. Sometimes people won’t leave their jobs, so they have to be gently shoved out the door. Not a Trump fan, but at least they are honoring his service.

I don’t want to sound ageist, but I know I will. He was on local news talking about this recently, but this announcer is 88 years old, and sounds it. He served the inaugurations well. But sometimes you have to know when to step aside.
