In Manitoba, schools rarely close for snow. Rural schools have snow days, but in Winnipeg they rarely have snow days. School buses may not be running, but there are still classes (like today). As an adult: I don't think I've ever had a job where it's closed due to snow. We're stubborn, we are.

Go team Winnipeg! Transit still runs, but school buses aren't today.

Yeah, I don't think I've ever had a snow day, either. I was a kid a long time ago, so it's possible that it happened when I was in elementary school, but still.
