One thing I really appreciated about this film's non-male gaze approach was that Diana wasn't raised unaware of sex. It would be so easy - for someone in her position of relative naivete and innocence - to tie that in with virginity and complete lack of knowledge regarding sex altogether. Instead, she's well-versed

Whoops. I do, thanks. :)

I feel like the last few seasons are too preachy. Maybe it's because I'm now coming from a 21st century perspective (I grew up on the show, but my view on it has changed as I've gotten older) but the show has a hamfisted approach to its material that makes it kind of cringe-inducing at times.

But you're citing someone who wants her to be stirring sexual desires. Are you saying that decades ago, this was made with the intent of making the character titillating to lesbians?

Not to mention the whole "sacrificing himself to save millions" makes for a great counterpoint.

Not to get too cliche, but that's an inherently hetero-male gaze perspective. If you can't depict female power without sexualizing it, that's a problem. It means that you always end up undercutting whatever validation women get from it by defaulting it back to men being able to ogle the character.

Saw it last night, and liked it a lot. As many others have said, it was just great to see one of these movies successfully have a sense of humor about itself. A lot of the fish-out-of-water made for great material. (My personal favorite being walking out onto the street wearing her new outfit carrying her sword and

The ending battle with Ares was the only time I felt Zack Snyder's touch. It reminded me a lot of the messy ending to Batman v Superman. Too long, too indulgent, too bland with the action. (Especially in comparison to the other action sequences you mentioned - which had such creative style.)

The first Metroid Prime is a master class in superior video game creation. It is one of the most marvelous, perfect games I've ever played.

I played the demo before buying, and I would just say that it's a pretty small sampling of what's the come. Obviously, there are all the surprising story elements that you'll hear people gush about. But I would go so far as to say that I've come to enjoy the combat more than I necessarily would've expected just from

I thought it was okay - I didn't have strong feelings about his character, so it didn't excite me the way it did others.

That's a great theory! Too bad we didn't really get to see it on-screen.

Of course Captain Jack Harkness is not dead.

Absolutely. I agree about the third season flashbacks - they had value and interesting characters. And that's a great point about overall success that I heartily agree with.

Couldn't agree more.

Especially for a finale so concerned with (evil) mothers/mother figures.

They're just going to flashback to episodes we've already seen?

When you say "flash" do you mean to say that Wally West will go zooming by for each transition?

I have a hard time comparing. For all that they're in the same universe, they're just such different shows.

Too bad we couldn't get Melania Laura Benanti for an end-of-the-episode appearance on Supergirl, to complete the trifecta.
