I think it comes down to exposure. Guys wank to this stuff in private. Their spouses/girlfriends/mothers know they do, but I truly don't believe they know how awful most of it is.
Yet they specifically refer to Adelphia as a company said to "make and produce pornography". Do cable companies produce the porn they show? They also keep talking about it in present tense when actually it went out of business years ago.

I don't think we can just sit back and let it be. We allow it to be seen as normal when we do. I don't believe we can legislate it away, no, but by leaving it there unquestioned we legitimize it.

I have a harder time with some celebs being perceived as chefs who really don't seem to deserve the title. Even in this article, Rachael Ray is portrayed as a chef. Has she ever been the chef in a restaurant? A great many of these personalities have never really held a real job as a chef.

I think that is the unintended moral here. "Fox News will kill you." isn't a whole lot different in spirit than "Obama will kill you." It's all about fearmongering on either side of the fence.
