baby’s head on a grown man’s athletic body ... stood as a stark metaphor for the way racists view black men.
That sheriff in episode one did not represent the Jim Crow South, but Massachusetts.
That’s one of the great things about this show: puncturing the idea that violent racism was safely contained in the South.
and they’re evil redneck cops in central Massachusetts too, just in case anyone thought the north was ever really not racist as fuck.
The family of blerds is hands-down my favorite part of this show.
Perhaps, but I can’t think of any political system further from democracy than North Korean communism.
<pedant> A “world war” implies a war fought on many fronts on more than one continent. In addition to WWI and WWII, I’ve seen the Seven Years’ War referred to as a world war, as it was fought in both Europe and North America. Korea was a proxy war between great powers, which is different. </pedant>
I think everyone’s been missing the fundamental theme of the show, which was amplified in S2 relative to S1. I didn’t understand how that was supposed to work. I mean, Mason still has the negatives, so what’s to stop him from going to the Tattler with them?
I mean, it’s pretty white, but you have Lupe, Della Street, Emily Dotson, and the promise of Tatiana Maslany!
So... you put the “fun” in “funicular”?
