That's interesting—because I've never been able to stand more than a few minutes of Girls, but a lot of my immediate reasons (cringe factor/character navel-gazing/dysfunction and immaturity being treated as cute/that's not how Iowa(or a law firm) works, show) could superficially apply to this. I think a big part of

I have to admit, I'd be half-impressed if one of my English 100/101 students said that to me. Ticked off, but half-impressed.

Why doesn't the suggestive photo spread of Rogelio and NPH exist in real life? It would be magical.

I actually found him more enraging this week than usual, but it was, I guess, a better dramatic use for him than humping a gravestone.

That was just typical Frank gross, as compared to his horrifically blithe memory of chaining Monica to the bed so she wouldn't abort.

I find Sean super-tedious to watch, too. I assume that's an intentional affect they've gone for, but when he's not being rapey, he's like listening to paint dry.

Nah, the Hecks could never be efficient enough to baptize a baby that soon.

It's also pretty significant, IMO, that this happened at the same time Fiona went off the rails in season 4.

FWIW, I thought the girl in Carl's class was (legitimately) totally creeped out by him hitting on her, nothing more.

I think she was deluded enough to think he'd genuinely be happy, and she'd essentially be adopted into his family. If you (generic you) think you are doing something the other person will be elated by, "trap" is probably not in your frame of reference.

Yes! I ended up looking away. (And I kept thinking any guy who did that to me would get bitten.)

I still kinda love Svetlana. She makes it work.

Male on female rapes are about those things, too.

I had the same interpretation of the nurse's voice—very much a bedside manner of calmness and gentleness.

No, remember, she's pure evil, has no good in her and deserves to be "cut down." That's TOTALLY an okay thing to say about children based on the family they were born into!

"These people are pure evil. A friend of mine suggested, 'This is a
one-branch family tree. Cut this tree down. We need to end the gene pool
here.'""

Agreed—I've never had as much (plausibility) trouble with Debbie's arc as a lot of people seem to. It's almost a curse of being conscientious and mature at a young age—she was left on her own way too much and developed some really, really bad expectations of how things work.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of people having their own private space, but "mancaves" just makes me feel like on some level these guys are still at the level of "no girls allowed/ew!cooties" stage.

Huh, that one investigator who called them all evil totally reminded me of language from American eugenics materials.

Yes. I don't necessarily feel prepared to make a call on Avery's innocence or guilt, but I DO feel prepared to say there were so many egregious errors and lapses in ethics that the conviction of Avery and especially Dassey is hopelessly tainted.
