They have a lot of Law and Order reruns. I've learned way too much about Marriage Boot Camp (except for who any of these people are except that one of them is "on top") just from the commercials—I just moved, and L&O is very undemanding for packing/unpacking purposes.

Well, it does let her once again play someone in an ethically dubious professional/romantic relationship, which does seem to be one of the tried and true staples as far as I can tell. Maybe her client is on trial for stealing organs? But only for people who really deserve them. Or else he's a ghost.

His wife made an ass out of herself on a race-related panel a few Worldcons back, iirc. (It was when I still read livejournal, so.)

Not to mention his regret over not punching Terry Pratchett in the face for his support of the right to die.

Goddamnit, my western high school suburb has a Red Devil for a mascot; why weren't WE cursed? (Obviously because our town name isn't long enough, although a Norwegian work acquaintance of my dad's told me it means "Valley of the Devil." I will attest to at least partial truth in advertising on that score.)

I love the episode when Darlene gets her period, from Roseanne saying Bev just gave them pamphlets from the Red Cross ("For months I thought what I had was a national disaster.") and then Dan's super-awkward "way to go" shoulder punch in the garage just kills me.

I love Kiernan Shipka in that episode. And JVDB describing her as a tiny blonde DeNiro.

There was supposed to be one with James van der Beek and Kiernan Shipka! (In the world where Don't Trust the B in Apartment 23 is absolute fact.)

aside: I really hate how so many shitty vanity presses claim to have A+ BBB ratings. (Which is even more irrelevant, because the people vanity presses take advantage of aren't defined as customers or consumers in that relationship, generally.)

I read "A Child's Life" in a grad school course (co-taught by Alison Bechdel!) and it is very weird for me to hear this movie being described in beige NPR voiceover tones between segments of Morning Edition.

Without really knowing the concept of sexy, when I saw the movie at age six or so I thought teenage Jodie Foster had the sexiest girl's voice I'd ever heard.

I hardly come across anyone who has read that, or Summer Switch. . .although as a kid I was confused as to why he just couldn't get the next week's lottery tickets or something. But as a kid I was really partial in general to series that switched POV characters from book to book.

The collected letters of Ursula Nordstrom, published as Dear Genius, are completely delightful if you are any kind of kids-lit geek. She also should get some credit for Maurice Sendak, EB White's children's books, Louise Fitzhugh, Margeret Wise Brown, Garth Williams as an illustrator, Little Bear, the Frances books.…

I was totally going to post a comment about that. If only for all the surprisingly cool people in cameos/small parts.

I loved the book, but I always found the end weirdly anti-climactic because of that, like it just kind of sputtered out.

Since I already found Maura Tierney and Joshua Jackson's characters/portrayals more sympathetic and interesting, this may actually get me to at least try season 2. I'm not sure if that's a "KHAAAAAN!" or a "well-played, ma'am."

Seriously, when was he ever a "nice" boyfriend? Did I miss those two minutes?

Her role model is Dr. Phil, after all.

And his name is French, so that's doubleplus effete liberal.

"I love you, it kills me, YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW!" And that Ben Folds abortion song (which they played at every high school dance I ever went to.) Ah, memories.
