I appreciate the analysis, but it seems wasted on The Following. The level of their "message" seems to be crappy literary analysis and "edginess" (omg Joe Carroll has BLOWN ALL THE RELIGIOUS SHEEPLES MINDS) that would embarrass a self-respecting fourteen-year-old, covered with a lot of gore. Like, omg, what if a

I think you have to have really read and absorbed the Baby-Sitters Club books to appreciate the sheer genius packed into Lisa and Janey's discussion. That level of precision is virtually enough to get an A from me forever.

I didn't think not knowing what Linda grounded them for took away from anything—if anything, I thought it was funnier as a set-up for her to be the villain, and their earnestness in sucking up to poor Aunt Gayle. And much funnier than it would have been if it was about Bob, because Linda is normally so "rah rah" about

I can't decide how I feel about Angela showing up at the end. In either S1 or S2, I would have been fine with JJS ending with no official closure, because that happens sometimes, and I don't at all trust this show on that point anymore. (And frankly, I doubt I'll be able to see Justin Chatwin in any other role for a

There are very few times when I can enjoy a punch related to a men-fighting-over-a-woman storyline. But goddamn if Gus isn't right about how smug JJS is.

Because at the point they thought Haley had eloped, responsible grown-ups who are no completely self-absorbed jerks are able to shift their priorities from a stupid craving for overpriced popcorn in a family crisis.

My parents probably would have told me to make a statement to the effect that the word "unique" shouldn't take a superlative. And they wonder why I wasn't more popular.

The Brick storyline tilted into unfunny for me, but I generally don't like stories centered around everyone in the family making it overtly clear how much they shit on smart/weird kid's interests. (See also Alex on Modern Family, etc.) Although I do like Axel getting a solid 90% on the quiz because of them sharing a

I wish I'd been playing a drinking game for "every device imaginable." Although visually the whole thing already gave me a headache.
Cameron, order your damn popcorn online. (I am a bad Chicagoan, because walking past a Garret's stand/shopfront the aroma is so strong it actually makes me nauseated.)
The magicians

True, but at least some of the time Mindy is also being a jerk, and/or the subject of the jerkiness is so ridiculous it doesn't bother me that much. I just felt so bad for Mindy most of this episode.

This was one of the times when I really disliked Danny for most of the episode. He was being such a jerk—and he just as well as Mindy should know better than to blame morning sickness on just eating junk food. (I might even say he should be more together, since he doesn't actually have hormonal and body changes.)

Somehow I'm not surprised he was a hyperactive child. . .

Suggesting something could possibly be influenced by race is the real racism.

I think being offended by "I can't breathe" t-shirts is actually one fairly decent indicator, actually. It's so. . .tacky when black people have opinions, and express them in public.

I will be so happy if they manage to do it without "omg there actually were witches in Salem," and have characters at least tangentially drawn from the (relatively small number) of real people.

They should be forced to watch 90s movies featuring kids freestyle "rapping" in the hallways.

Wow, the most memorable thing about a movie is the titular character? What an astonishing observation.

Copy editors can query a statement that seems incorrect or nonsensical.

Thinking of that just makes me nostalgic for Eagle Man.
