The flu KILLS. No, you didn’t get the “flu” last year after you got a flu shot because you developed a “fever” of 99.2 and felt achy, UGH. A reality TV celeb posted a picture on instagram of her arm with band aid talking about getting the flu shot and one for her baby, and she had to take it down and ISSUE AN APOLOGY…

I got the full-blown/unprotected flu once (ONCE) and that was enough to be first in fucking line for the shot every year thereafter. I missed two full weeks of grad school, lost about 30 pounds, and I remember passing out trying to take a shower because I couldn’t stand up for more than a couple minutes at a time. And…

This is a medical doctor reminding American parents (of whom I am one) that the flu is the number one infectious disease killer of all time.

These idiots also seem to ignore the fact that a lot of people can be carrying the virus but not show any symptoms. So they may not actually feel sick but are still capable of spreading it to other people.

I work with a bunch of SCIENTISTS and even THEY occasionally regurgitate the dumb “the flu shot always makes me sick” or “last year i got the flu anyway” garbage.

I think what bugs me the most about people who don’t get the flu shot is less the people who believe that vaccine cause autism, and more the people who are like “Well, I haven’t had the flu in 10 years, so I don’t need one!” It’s such a stupid, selfish opinion that because YOU’RE ok, you don’t need to do this thing…

I skipped the shot one year because there was a shortage. They asked healthy, young, adults not to use a dose that could go to the elderly and those with compromised immune systems. I am in the you do you, camp of other people's parenting choices but not getting the flu shot is one of those things that drives me absolutely nuts. I can't take antivaxxers seriously, you're not a "crunchy mama" you're a stupid mama.
