No offense to all the English majors here, but I find non-K12-teacher English majors to be the WORST with faulty memories around this. The amount of people that have tried to insist to me that they read Pride and Prejudice or other classics in 5th-6th grade drives me NUTS. I have some super elite readers in my 6th

“I guess you just know everything then.”

She WAS much nicer. But she still doesn’t know what words mean here. Why do people like this get paid to talk? I’m not saying I’m much better, but I *know* people who are much better!

Yeah, I don’t love the “heroes and villains” thing we have right now. Like, I get that “we” elected a comic book mobster (not even a comic book villain), but that doesn’t mean that everyone else falls totally neatly into one category or the other.

I used to time my gym trips to line up with appropriate shows. Now I loooove having Netflix as I run, so I can watch Jeopardy ANY TIME!

I think what the OP means is the track playing behind the video isn’t recorded at the time of the video.

How could I forget Death of 1,000 Cuts!

I’m kind of a writing podcast noob, but Writing Excuses and Write Now are great!

Eh, that *can* be good, but I find it often gets way too negative when parents are legit helping. The modes seem to be, for my kids/parents:

Something tells me that some of these commenters should read the books on this list. Don’t worry; they’re not difficult reads!

THANK YOU I’ve been meaning to watch that for years and totally forgot.

Doesn’t Prancer give away the whole Santa thing? I remember not being allowed to watch it as a kid, and I think that was why (or maybe there was an abusive parent? My parents didn’t really like us watching abusive-parent things because we got FREAKED OUT by it).

I love the “sisters” scene, but the rest of the movie is kinda crap.

Yeah, it’s really odd how they have a snowy Thanksgiving in that one. Granted, a lot of the US had that this year, too, but it certainly isn’t the norm in many places.

The original picture book is DARK, too, like all of Van Allusburg’s stuff.

YES to George C. My husband’s partial to muppets, but I thing George C Scott does the best job being believably horrible. Like, he’s a dick, and he really LIKES being a dick, as so many do.

True! When pregnant, I had to come up with non-sudafed ways to deal with colds (sudafed is on the “no” list for pregnancy), and I came up with:

Wait, you can give it to a kid? I never heard that before...

My doctor has us alternate between tylenol and ibuprofin usually; you don’t want to overtax the liver OR the stomach.

Holy crap, no. My kiddo had a staph infection that skyrocketed her to 105 in a couple of hours, and we had to be in the hospital for a week. She’s fully vaccinated, and you CANNOT vaccinate for staph.
