Let’s...not equate China to the US on this one.

I gotta say, I haven’t seen Arnold in that many things, but somehow ended up watching parts of 9 Months, and he was somehow by far the most charming person in that movie, and Hugh Grant and Julianne Moore were in it.

...and does quite a bit for children’s charities, I believe. She’s just quieter, which is to be expected on many levels (she’s been around for longer, she’s got kids, she’s literally quieter, she’s not an actress).

I wish it would. So far, it still seems kinda hopeless from where I’m sitting.

YUP! I think I’d remember the people from my relatively small class in a vague sort of way, if I looked in my yearbook, but every time I do, the memories are a bit fuzzier. And I’m only in my early 30s. And we’ve had facebook since the year after we left high school, keeping some of those random connections fresh.

None of them are giving in the traditional sense that they hand over money and walk away with nothing other than a plaque or a name on a building (that was going to be named any which way anyway). They’re investing and collecting power.

THIS RIGHT HERE! He wants to take over the preschool sandbox, likely as a sort of investment (whether it’s political investment or actual monetary investment remains to be seen). He *could* be sticking to his own sandbox and making that better, but he is making the active decision to interfere in a sector he knows

You know, there’s a middle ground. America lived in that middle ground for a few decades, and they were some of our best, economically speaking.

He can’t possibly have a coherent vision for preschool (it’s very, very vague at this point). If he’d pay his fucking taxes instead of shopping Amazon HQ around to the lowest bidder, maybe we’d be able to get more public preschools.

It’s not that it’s not enough; it’s that he’s buying up things that should be public. He’s investing; he isn’t donating.

When I donate, I don’t expect the organization to let me run it. That’s a pretty big difference between me and Bezos. Besides the money, I mean.

As if there aren’t fucking dividends for dayyyys.

It’s way, way, way better to give money to get your name on a building. In those cases, yeah, it’s an ego stroke, but it’s actually *giving* the money without dictating how it’s spent.

...and I’d be happy if he paid that rate on his first $40K, too.

YES YES YES. Thank you! I hate how even critical articles act like it’s fucking charity. It’s not- it’s buying power.

YES. He’s doing what the rest of them do and he’s buying power. It’s not charity when you get to run the fucking show from then on out, and everyone has to do what you say.

Ran really slowly around the gym before hanging out on the sides of games because boys would never pass to me? TELL THE WORLD, I’M READY!

I didn’t fucking say that. I’m talking about Europe, here, where there are plenty of resources, even if the US would still be near the top in GDP per capita. Don’t be a dick- it makes your point look shitty, too.

WHAT?! Is it terrible?

ETA: Why would “terrible dye job” be a CHOICE for the hero of your show?
