Like most people have already said, the ME Universe is huge. It takes a lot to create such an immersive gaming universe like that, and it'd be a shame to create this massive database just for 3 games.

I think it GREATLY affects competition, in the sense that preparation has become an easier process. More players (like myself) are now more likely to enter competitions because the training is easier.
My mom never had a problem with it...my wife, on the other hand...
Blooper reel is classic, too. It actually shocked me that they had an additional player as the "camera man" who was having to drive the car on reverse to catch some of the action. Made it that much more impressive to me.
It makes breeding for IV's super easy, though. I have several perfect IV Dittos with different Natures. So breeding for an Adamant 5 IV Gible (I didn't need Sp.A) took about 10 eggs to get.

I'm glad there's a mod out there that tries to fix the game, but I didn't have such a fix when I tried to play KOTOR 2. Plus, my PC at the time was showing its age, so I really couldn't get that far even if it weren't the mess that it was.
