Allow me to preface my rant with a bit of personal info: I have two jobs. In one, I teach driver education for a private driving school; and in the other I own a technology education, troubleshooting, and repair consultancy specializing in audio visual, information technology, and network integration and

I have serious trust issues when Torch posts any hitherto-unknown “sketch” or “prototype” of oddball concepts. I always go to the bottom of the article first to check for any “I made this all up” mea culpas.

If the driver isn’t at fault for the ticket, then Tesla is. If Tesla (and all of the other manufacturers who are cramming this autonamous-car crap down our collective throats) start having to pay the traffic fines for these tickets, then maybe they’ll wait until the tech is truly ready to deploy it.

Seems odd to me for them to introduce the racing version first. The street version is only going to appear tame and pedestrian, by comparison, and I fear it might seem disappointing.

Just make it all one color, preferably black.

When I had my custom 928 S (in Germany), there was another guy in my neighborhood who had a BMW 850 and an early 928 S. We used to park them right next to each other whenever opportunity presented itself.

Don’t forget VW’s first experiment with the W-engine layout, the Audi Avus Quattro Concept, which “had” a W12 engine. In truth it was only a mockup installed in the car, but IIRC they used to also display the engine on a stand beside the car.

Ooh, you posted one of my favorites. Here’s another from Ms. Monae that I love:

Not really, but that is impressive too. Rally drivers get my utmost respect. Tommi hit a hill that went up from the road on the inside of the turn.

I’ve never been able to find footage, but when Tommi Makinen was still driving for Mitusbishi (2000 or so) I didn’t really have a driver that I really rooted for. I knew Tommi was great, but with Didier Auriol, Juha Kankkunen, Petter Solberg, Colin McRae, Carlos Sainz, and many more greats - it was tough to choose.

German Chicken McNugget sauces that we don’t get in the USA, my favorite being the curry sauce. Also, the best-tasting vanilla milkshake I’ve ever had was at a Burger King in Itaewon, Seoul, Korea. I don’t know why/how it was different, but it was so good.

That makes sense. I didn’t know about the Stabilo rocket, only the aerospike. As I understand it, the aerospike was a contender for the Space Shuttle program, and was also planned for the X-33, so it isn’t just these guys who like it. In fact, I almost posted the NASA test in my original post, but it was already

To which of the 19 videos in that playlist are you referring?

To be fair, that’s the same company that thought you could passively stabilize a rocket by making it a tractor .

I REALLY like that purplish one.

“It’s hard to make a rocket engine that works well both near the Earth, where the air pressure is high, and as it reaches orbit, where the air pressure drops to nearly nothing,” Granade said via email.
