My apologies, I thought your “semi-auto, high capacity” qualifiers were mutually exclusive. It just seems that there is a lot of confusion and misinformation about what a semi-automatic firearm actually is.

I agree that the US desperately needs to get a grasp on gun control... like now.

So called “restricted” firearms just require a slightly higher tier of the possession and acquisition license, and are subject to stricter rules regarding their use and transportation. Currently the restricted classifications applies to handguns and short barrel semi-automatics, among others.

I think that we Canadians have a pretty decent handle on gun control. Sure, there’s always room for improvement.

Just FYI, here in Canada we have access to semi-automatic firearm. Many of them. Many hunting rifles, and shotguns are semi-automatic. Nearly all handguns are as well.

I think that’s a great attitude to have. Since firearms exist, and will likely forever exist in society, it’s a good idea to become somewhat familiar with them, if for no other reason than to be able to render one safe.

Grew up around all sorts of firearms. Handguns, semi-automatic and bolt action rifles, shotguns both pump and semi-automatic. Used for hunting and range practice. - Rural Canadian
