Also according to the BLS teachers work less than the average professional on the weekend.

I was using the amount of hours that teachers SELF REPORTED to the BLS.

so that includes grading papers at home and making lesson plans.

Teachers are not underpaid.

They work less hours than the average full time worker.
They work less weeks than the average full time worker.
They in general have pretty good benefits.
They make about the same as the average full time worker of similar educational backgrounds.

That means they work 42-43 weeks a year 36-37 of which school is in session.
thats 9-10 weeks of vacation.

What makes you think teachers are underpaid? They have more weeks off then the general public, they on average work less hours per week worked than the average full time worker (self reported teacher data compared to BLS data.) and they get paid more than the average american.
