Ars Technica had a top-notch analysis of Sealand just last week:

I heard once that humor is what happens when two very different ideas become linked in an unexpected way in our minds. I don't know if that is true, but it seems to work here. This was freakin' hilarious. I can't imagine listening to this for an entire tape though.

yeah, but there's a downside. Inhale while on the scale and gain billion billion yoctograms! Scratch some dead skin cells off your body and lose a bunch again!

I wondered where the hell those cat pics were coming from.

I had the same reaction the first time I saw a belt-driven Harley Davidson motorcycle. And then I realized I was looking at a belt-driven motorcycle. A motorcycle. If the belt on this bike is of similar material I think it will outlast a chain.

I use Acronis True Image Home, and have for the last few years. A little pricey for me, but I got in on a promo and get upgrade discounts every release.

The chance of any (not all) of your devices failing? I don't see how the math works out here.

edit: 20 TB in your NAS

Not having a backup solution in itself indicates that you are in fact prepared to lose at least some of the data. In fact, the more storage devices you own, the higher the chance one of them will fail.

get rid of some stuff. Seriously, 10 TB? What are you trying to prove? Are you curating the Digital Smithsonian's Probably-Will-Never-Be-Used-Again File collection? :^)

No way. They would just blow the dust of their DVD collection, plug the dvd player back in and still squint at a screen.

That.... is pretty awesome.

I saw one of these at a thrift store for 25 cents, and had no idea what it was at the time. I noticed it was branded Dole on top, and the next day I had a revelation and figured out it was a pineapple corer/slicer. I went back to get it, and it was gone. I did get an almost new food processor with all accessories for

So, the real problem here is that you have been arrested over 1000 times.

I have no knowledge of British law. So this comment may be worth little. However, I would expect that someone taking an active role in hacking and ruining a rival should face stiff penalties. In a perhaps poor analogy, if someone breaks into your business and steals crucial documents, they have committed crimes

As a matter of fact, I have some. Received them for Christmas over 10 years ago and never use them because 1) I avoid camping in the water or when hurricanes are likely and 2) they are so expensive I feel wasteful using them.

I have done this before, using clear nail polish. Here's the thing though, you can pick up a 4-pack of small Coleman waterproof match boxes for a few bucks in any big retailers' camping section.

Wait, isn't that how runways always work? ;P

Mine too. I remember a gizmodo photo challenge that was basically the opposite of this. Take lots of photos of the scene and combine them on some theme. For example, a New York street filled entirely by taxis or blue cars or cross walks full of people but no cars.
