And as long as we're talking modes of transportation, seeing Enid on a bike made me wonder why human survivors don't use them more often. There have to be plenty around, they don't need gas, and they're faster than zombies.

Interesting about Emily. I was surprised they killed her off since she was starting to seem like a "core" character on the path to further development, especially given her supportive relationship with Jesse and Cassidy's obsession with her. I could easily imagine her as the fourth passenger on the Season 2 road trip,

She also killed her baby sitter. That role now falls to Cassidy, who will make Tulip's vanilla hash browns for the kids.

I heard a rumor that next year there'll be a new category: Outstanding Fucking Drama, but only shows starring Ian McShane will be eligible.

Absolutely agree. I'm still shocked that she was overlooked. For me this sours the whole nominee list, even though I think many of the other nominations are deserved.

I've tried to rationalize why Jesse didn't use the voice to make Odin forget about the land deal, too, but in the end I think it was just the usual narrative oversight. Unless Odin has some supernatural dimension himself and Jesse senses that…

Same here. In fact, I was a little disappointed this week when the cold open segment ended and the main narrative resumed.

I think they need the chainsaw in order to open up Jesse and get at it, whatever it is. (Sorry; I don't know the comic.) Also, given that the force apparently killed all the other religious folks it entered back in ep 1, most of this season will probably lead up to revealing what makes Jesse so special.

I liked both the film and the first two episodes of the series (despite its occasional scene-for-scene and even shot-for-shot imitations), but I do wonder what dramatic arcs the series will employ to replace some the film's. For example, in the film the police were characterized as corrupt and violently abusive, with

The actress who played Mrs. Warren looked kinda farmiga.

I thought it was overdone at first, too, but it's likely that Stan's son (unlike Stan) hasn't yet shown a proclivity for romance so he's just happy to see the kid making social progress.

Thought at first that the cold opening was a promo for Hell on Wheels. Glad it wasn't, and even though I'm not familiar with the source material I'm intrigued to see how it fits in down the road.

It had me as soon as I heard the "pod" sound effects from Kaufman's '78 Invasion of the Body Snatchers during the cold opening. I think there may have a few other SF audio quotes in there as well.

Who Knows Where the TIme Goes, indeed. Which leads me to mention that Richard Thompson is one of the top 50-year wonders on my list (or 49 if you count Fairport's birth year as 1967). Still a relentlessly prolific and creative musician and songwriter.
