@MacAttack: As George Costanza advised, "It's not a lie if you believe it." Totally immersing yourself in the lie can lead to a powerful argument.

@danhughes: Well most people probably don't even know which type is best for combating each kind of fire (e.g. paper, grease, electrical, etc.). While color may be a better indicator than our letter system, I still think people would not know without reading.

@amolad: Doesn't that website contradict the previous post [lifehacker.com] Specifically, "Forget the old adage: drink at least eight (eight-ounces) glasses of water a day to stay hydrated. Sixty-four ounces is an arbitrary amount. Recent studies show that drinking for thirst is fine and meets the body’s needs. It

@FriedPeeps: You can check by going to your ad block preferences. There, it will show you what filter rules and subscriptions you have. Since some of the lists can be fairly long, I suggest you collapse the header titles so that you can see if the malware domains subscription is there. For me, it was the last one at

@Archnemesis_Goldenhair: I completely agree with archa1c. You seem to be describing the "fashionably late" type of situation, but applying it very broadly. Personally, I put very little faith and trust in those kinds of people because I often find that their tardiness is part of a larger problem of being

@iidebaser: Can you link me to any of these tests you mention? Or where have you seen these tests? If I do a google search trying to find that this is a myth, the only results I find link to the SINGLE response that this lifehacker article references (which I claim the author has no obvious credentials that we can

Sorry to beat a dead horse, but i have to disagree with the baking soda thing as well. This referenced source is not vetted in any sort of meaningful way as far as I can tell. Looks like ProfHoff needs to go back to school.

I've been using this site for years, though on a very limited basis. I find it useful if there's some small webpage that releases updates to things at very slow intervals. It's nice to just get an email saying there's a change (and likely an update) than to check back every few months. Another more recent example was

@Adam Pash: It didn't ask me to pay, but I only tested my number and a recent wrong number. Sadly, it didn't turn up a name for either. Always nice to have more options in case a person is harassing you, but this does not seem better than the other 20 lookups out there for me so far :/

@gnawlej: All this talk about smoked meat and pulled pork is really putting me in the mood. Unfortunately, I can't do this inside my apt and I have no outside to do it on :(

@Duane: Yes, you would need to make it into a paste. You need to add water to both! :)

@2 replies: My thoughts exactly. I guess it really comes down to what you have around though. I always have a box of baking soda in the fridge so I'd just go for that directly. Some people might be in the opposite situation though.

I know that I "like" Lifehacker, but do I "like like" it? Ugh, I better ask people in my facebook status...

@thedeadparrot: That caveat is talking about applying the chemical to your skin, unless I'm grossly mistaken. Yes, DEET is generally safe for use on your skin. However, it is not meant to be inhaled, especially not in high amounts. As an irritant, the chemical is much more likely to irritate your respiratory tract

I love how the article describes possible health risks associated with high concentrations of the chemical, and then says to see the picture above where the guy is NOT WEARING A MASK while he's fogging the school. I can't tell if that's a mask around his neck or not, but you would think that the ears, eyes, nose, and

@djsmiley2k: Well I see the rationale like this - Over time, you accumulate various items, which you may or may not have use for down the road. Eventually, through laziness or perhaps abundance of storage space, you wind up have an assortment of things in your possession that are not all relevant anymore. Now, you may

@Marand: I do... sorta. I like to get into a video-watching mood sometimes, and will often just queue up a lot of flash-based video in many separate tabs (try 5-15). I don't often close my broswer, and so sometimes I'll go through multiple cycles of this. Even after just one or two of these cycles, I find that the

@Kevin Purdy: Taken from an MSN money article:"For payroll checks, this usually isn't an issue, because most customers use direct deposit. But if direct deposit isn't available, you'll have to mail deposits to the bank (envelopes are provided), use an ATM that accepts deposits for your bank or transfer funds from an
