what i’m saying here, though, is that i have trouble sticking to these games for more than a couple bosses because i just want it to play like the newer engine. i get annoyed by my perceived downgrades.

it’s really hard for me to go back to older games after playing bloodborne / ds3 - yet i’ve already bought this game twice (original version and pc remaster) - why am i tempted to buy it a third time?

I think it’s hard to recommend for horror fans - i love a good slow burn horror movie or show, but the “pay off” SUCKS. It renders this as a drama with a couple jump scares, not a true horror genre piece IMO. Maybe if you had different expectations you'll feel differently.
