I test drove a V60 Polestar (the new one, with the turbo/supercharged 4 banger) in January. I left the dealership trying to figure out where I was going to get $60K to buy the thing. You put it in sport mode and it opens a port in the exhaust and pretty much doubles in volume, but it’s perfectly civilized in normal

It seems like the danger in “engineering without a license” would arise when the design is implemented not when it’s described. Designs and math on paper aren’t even potentially dangerous until they’re implemented in the physical world. This reeks of silencing someone who’s saying something unwelcome but correct.

You’ve clearly never owned an Iron Duke....

You missed the Ford Edge that seems to be a favorite of a lot of California PDs.

The PO of my 350Z had Megan Racing radius arms in the rear end. They had solid steel bushings in them which meant that when driving rough twisty mountain roads there wasn’t enough flex in the bushing to stop things from breaking (the car... and my back). I’ll admit that I replaced them with a second set after the

I don’t think so, it’s pretty hard to see past that two digit horsepower figure and 4500rpm redline in the 4 banger and the 6 wasn’t exactly the pick of 80's GM engines. Sure, you can stuff a 3800SC or an SBC in the trunk (unless you live in Cali) and make big power but frankly, you can buy more power with less money

I had a V6-engined 3rd gen Eclipse, front plugs took 5 minutes, the rest of the weekend was spent trying to get at the rears. The intake plenum curls up over the rear bank. There are something like 8 bolts that you had to take off from the back side of the plenum before you could pull it and they were all about 1

They tried that. The solstice/sky are pretty close to being the spiritual successor to the fiero. Parts bin car, technically mid engine, two seater roadster. I mean the engine was in the front but fully behind the rear axle. It wouldn’t be the same if chevy did it though. There’s something about bonkerness of 80's

OMG, the stereo in the 135i that I picked up a couple weeks ago is TERRBILE. Doesn’t do bluetooth audio, doesn’t do audio over USB without an expensive BMW made cable. The actual sound part of the equation is fine and I probably won’t bother with any speaker changes, but the head unit just feels so behind the curve,

Mine looks like this:

I just got rid of mine today. Nothing really went wrong with it in the 6 months I had it. They’re definitely more fun to drive with the windows down to listen to that straight pipe.

3rd gen Eclipse GTS. At some point it developed a horrible noise in the valve train. I cleaned all 24 of the tiny hydraulic lifters which the internet assured me would solve my problem. The engine in general was a pain to work on. Pretty much everything required pulling the manifold and that meant removing the five

My Datsun Roadster is from an annoying time period in Japanese auto manufacturing. The body and suspension fasteners are all SAE, while the driveline and interior are all metric. Because it’s a Nissan, all the 8mm bolts have 12mm heads which means that half of them are 13mm now since I’ve had to replace a bunch and

I was at Laguna Seca for for my first track day in a 350z Nismo. I had a couple laps with nobody in front of me and had fallen into a nice rhythm. Brake pedal had felt a little funny braking for the Corkscrew but I didn’t think anything of it. I was coming into turn 11 at about 90 and.... the brake pedal went to the
