I guess my thing is that Scobee probably statistically had a higher chance of making the field goal than Vick getting the first down.

I'm still waiting for a team to just hire a punter and have them drop-kick field goals. I wonder what the metrics are. I bet some punters could be pretty damn accurate.
Tomlin maybe actually should’ve let Scobee kick the 51-yarded in OT. The motivation for Scobee would’ve been over the moon.
Facts are fluid in a breaking news situation. I think everyone understands that. It’s why you use couching language and full attribution if you know what you’re doing: “The Benton County Sheriff’s Office tells us at least seven people are dead. We’re working to sift through the information and bring you the latest.”…
No. Our crime-heavy shows get the highest ratings every time, and nine of our 10 most read stories in September were crime stories (the other was the penis attacking the Jayhawk). They are of very high interest. This is almost always true when looking at the metrics. Just because you don’t like it and want the reader…
I get your point, but you’re missing the boat, in that who are you to decide what truly matters? Each person must decide for themselves what matters to them. And if they want to only consume conservative or liberal blogs or fashion shows or dog shows, hey—-that’s their right. The system isn’t broken.
“It’s called Buzzfeed.”
The masses should decide what they want to know and don’t. It works, though, because there is always room in the business for individual groups and tastes.
Good journalists know they can be accurate AND first.
A note on WANT versus NEED. Journalism is all about what people WANT to know. And you know what? That’s how it should be. There’s no value for a news item no one cares about. Journalism is ALL ABOUT what people want, not what they need—-although a lot of the time, the two intersect.
Because that’s literally what journalism is—-an issue or event that happened and that people want to know about. There’s no value in a news item no one cares about.
I can say without a doubt you are in the minority. The numbers don't lie.
Yup, can confirm. I'm in TV news. Viewers and even our own reporters SAY they like positive stories, but the most clicked and most watched news stories tell a different story.
The best goddamn movie you'll see in your life. A-minus

We never got an answer. Are they serious or not? I MUST KNOWWW
This college football season has had some excellent endings so far! Loving the season so far.
Your solution is two-hand-touch football?
Fuck you! The seats can recline for a reason!
A lot of people will point to me-first culture shirking facts in journalism as the problem here, but the actual problem is a journalist who doesn’t know how to check “facts.”
