Absolutely, the commercial/advertising aspect is almost totally secondary to its political/social influence. And either Zuckerberg doesn't get it, or he REALLY gets it, both of which are pretty scary indeed.

On a related note, the "trending topics" in my Facebook newsfeed this morning were, in this order:
Kylie Jenner
Khloe Kardashian
Lamar Odom
Cleaning these things must be a fucking nightmare. I imagine you absolutely need a full time cleaning crew. My wife and I can't even keep up with 2,000 sq ft.
Yea I've seen it, but you don't need it whatsoever. He even says "I get boarded sometimes" to Jabba AND Greedo - it's so clear only ONE of those scenes should be in the movie.
Indeed…indeed.
That scene in A New Hope was SUCH bullshit. It was completely redundant. I mean, some of the lines directly repeat themselves from Greedo's scene.
Yes, it does exactly what you first said. Love the avatar by the way, original DX = GOAT
LOL I think the same thing!
I read Dark Matter in two days - loved it! It's got made-for-movie written all over it.
I really, really enjoy Mistborn. Sanderson creates "hard magic" systems better than anyone (plus he's a great writer). I gobbled down his newest big volume fantasy saga, but damnit, by the time he publishes a new one I'll have forgotten the previous two.
This exactly. I mean, fuck, even cast-iron skillets stink up my house for a day or two.
Finished the newest Reacher novel. This one was utter shit. A murky mess of a plot and very few ass kickings. Lee Child is such a contradiction - he's not American, but his Reacher novels that take place in distinctly backwater American towns are his best. When Reacher goes international, the stories suffer REALLY…
Starting Kavalier and Clay right now…been trying to restart it for years, it just seems so dense and intimidating. Hoping to make it to the second chapter this time.
I've always thought Force Awakens follow up will actually come before it, in other words, filling in Kylo Ren's fall from grace and fleshing out his backstory, and then the final act of the trilogy is tying it all together against Rey. Or something like that.
It takes them ten years to build a fucking overpass in my town. Coulda had a starkilling planet in that time!
Yea, but so much of Star Wars is absorbed via cultural osmosis. My wife has seen the movies maybe once or twice, but shes knows who Boba Fett is mostly through pop culture references. I don't really hear many references to Gimli or Legalos (maybe Frodo or Gandalf though).
I imagine in about 20 years all movies will have boiled down to three or four broad genres…we'll have "SPACE FRANCHISE" and "COMIC BOOK FRANCHISE" and "HORROR FRANCHISE"…and that may be it.
Just saw Fantastic Beasts yesterday, and EVERYTHING looked fake as hell. I'll take a built set of a couple city blocks over a CGI New York. It totally sucks.
All I see is the back of a head…and he seems dressed reasonably…I see no definitive proof of Belichick!
He traded all fucks for Super Bowl rings.
