This would have to be a toss up between the Golf Gti, one of the earlier models before it got old and fat. Or the Peugeot 205 GTi. Or the Renault Clio Williams. Or... No, I'll stop there or I'll start listing every hot hatch I like.

Is it sad that I actually kinda like the look of that?

And you're not a car guy if you don't care about the cars. Buying them because they're expensive and flash just shows the world that yes, you really are a douche that has more money than sense.

Awesome. Both the car and the hawk.

Well put. No matter how many people I talk to or how many times I write a comment on a website when talking about 9/11, I just can't seem to get across the respect I have for the people who were involved in that day. This is probably the best comment I've read about what was going through the minds of the military

Totally agree. This, the Mustang, Challenger and Charger are really, REALLY, nice looking cars. So much better looking than pretty much anything European or Japanese. Apart from maybe one or two exceptions.

9/11 was one of the weirdest days in history. But it was also one where you keep hearing stories of heroes. That was a real gutsy thing for this guy to do. But what else could you do with that kind of threat out there? Every time I hear about guys like this making the right decision, I feel a little safer knowing that

When 9/11 happened I was staring at the TV for the whole day. First it was one tower, then the next, then the reports came in about the pentagon and the plane that crashed into the field. I spent the whole day wondering if it was ever going to stop, and if we were about to enter into a nuclear war.

God I wish we had those over here in the UK. That was my #2 choice back in OK when I was looking for a car. I just couldn't find the right age/mileage combination for my bank to ok the financing. But they did ok the financing for a 17 year old LS400 with 254K miles on it though.... :-)

I love that! "The steering wheel was duct taped on.." there's something good about getting a car that doesn't hide the bad shit from you. You can see the duct tape and rear seats and know exactly what you're getting into. Glad it came back from the dead for you.

I'm adding this to my list of possible cars too. I'll be looking for one with a service history and hope that covers all the bits I can't see or know about being ok too.

That's #1 on my list-of-possibles. God I hope I get this freaking job, I'm going stir crazy.

My ex bought a new Honda Civic before we split up but she was worried about how many miles it would have on it by the time she was finished paying for it as she drove nearly 40K miles a year for work. I tried to explain to her that when it's paid for, it will have around 200K miles, which isn't bad on those types of

Heart clicked and +1 too.

I know a few people here won't understand your definition of 'poor' but I do and think you explained it well. I've known people through my life that were in a position of income that I can only ever dream of and they could barely afford a used fiesta. One guy was actually on a 6 figure salary and the most he could

I'm hoping that I'll be in this position soon. I have my first job interview in forever next week, and if I get it I will hopefully be earning enough to look at getting a car next spring/summer. The difference between me and your average joe though is that I am old enough to get relatively cheap insurance and I only

I don't understand how anyone can possibly believe in any kind of conspiracy theory by a government. How they can think that somehow they planned the fake moon landings and managed to keep it quiet for all these years without ANYONE letting the secret out of the bag. This is a country where the President can't even

Ok this might not fit into the compact category, but I've seen a few nominations that are around the same size so I'm just going to go ahead and nominate the Lexus LS400. It might not be the most fun to drive, but it will out live you and your great grandkids. Luxury, power and reliability.

I would skip the dealer and contact BMW NA and explain the situation to them. Ask about the risks to the car with it not being run in properly and see if one of their techs would be willing to take a look at it. At the least, have it noted in the records of the car just in case something starts to go wrong with it

I normally don't pass judgement on other drivers and their cars because we all love our cars and love to drive them... But... being that young and getting those kinds of cars and then choosing to do something dumb like this? Sorry, but those kids got what they deserved. I hope they lose their licenses and have to
