I think she’s going through something that happens when people are finally freeing their demons: mistaking self-exploitation for truth-telling. Compounded by the fact that she’s a celebrity, her rush to unload is going to come twice as hard as a regular person. She’s got a lot to get out and untangle. I hope she

I believe MacGowan was raped and has been victimized.

Bruno Mars should do the Super Bowl halftime show every year.

Aronovsky looks like that skeezy, physically unattractive, pretentious hipster guy who’s into the arts and other cool things so you convince yourself he’s hot and you want to bang him even though he’s an emotionally abusive asshole. It ends badly (he cheats because commitment is just so bougie, you know) and then,

Those particular hollywood relationships have always seemed pretty quid pro quo to me.

Could not help but believe that Bardem was a “metaphor” for Aronofsky.

In a year of creepy movie industry folks being outed and shamed, the dichotomy of older Directors dating their much younger stars comes across as especially inappropriate.

mother! was a fucking awful movie, like unwatchably bad. I just could not sex the dude responsible for that particular pile of crap.

because you have to tear down successful black people. you haven’t figured this shit out yet?

“We’ve reached out to Haddish’s management for comment and an editor at Simon and Schuster who’s worked them both. We’ll update if we hear back”

I loathe Tucker Max, but this is such a non-story. Why do you care?

Or she’s older than she says hehe

ya that really stuck with me too. i hope she learned from that encounter. I use to love Salma and what she represented to us however, she lost some good will with fans when she said she no longer remembered what it felt like to be Mexican (paraphrasing)...as if that isn’t what she IS already.

I was addressing the author, not Salma.

I’m going to nitpick here, I’m sorry. Salma didn’t challenge Jessica’s views, she dismissed and diminished her with obvious condescension, at a table where Jessica’s voice was more important to hear than Salma’s.

She and Shirley McLaine were very dismissive of her when she brought up intersectionality, specifically for trans women and WOC. The gist was “stop thinking of yourself as a victim.” Williams claimed they spoke over and interrupted her as well.

I agree. Even when she left Mexico she was in demand and super recognizable.

that’s my first thought any time salma is brought up these days. i was pretty appalled at the way she treated jessica williams.

“...Hayek, as a then-struggling Mexican actress” Right. Hayek has never struggled. She came from a wealthy family and by the time she made Frida, already had double digit films under her belt. Saying she was a “struggling actress” lumps her into the group of all the other women who have zero power in this situation.

I am very empathetic to this story and I feel for her and yet while reading it what she did to Jessica Williams came rolling to the front of my mind. But back to the subject at hand I’m proud of her for speaking out against him and he clearly put her through hell. What a garbage man.
