I am seriously curious about this, so in theory, could you run a full-fledged console game on an Android phone? I mean, scale the graphics down a bit, but have the overall gameplay stay the same. I know you can play N64 and PSX games on your phone, but the scale of today’s console games are so huge and intricate that

I definitely think that that is very possible too. It would make sense to go with SD cards as opposed to anything else, especially if you want to have a handheld/console hybrid.

Well, the article definitely insinuates that Nintendo wants to make a console that could compete with Sony and MS.

Relatively, yes. But if you are to fit the same amount of data as a Bluray, then it does get up there in price a bit. It’s all about profit margins and Nintendo doesn’t want to spend an excess amount of money on a storage media. I don’t know though, they may be able to get a ~64gb SDish card for about the same price

True, but that would mean that every developer would have to develop two versions of each game. I think it would be a lot more lucrative for Nintendo, and they would probably get a lot more developers on board if they had more of an option like PC gaming, where your graphics are set lower on the handheld and then it

Yeah for sure, that would be really awesome if that’s the case!

I guess that’s true. But still, do you think you could run a full PS4-scale game on a high end Android device?

That’s what I was thinking - like Microsoft did with the SurfaceBook. However, the handheld still needs to be powerful enough to be able to run a full game, if they want a true hybrid between the two that is. Unless they will rely on streaming, which would be horrible.

It’s not just about graphics though - how are you going to fit a full-fledged game, a la Dragon Age, or Skyrim, or The Witcher, or even any of Nintendo’s own titles on a media that’s playable on a handheld machine. Android games are usually very short (in comparison to console games) and technically limited, so it’ll

This copyright thing is absolutely ridiculous. Every time it pops up, we’re all reminded how incredibly backwards and how stuck in pre-napster era the music industry is. There are tons of solutions out there, and they’re punishing people that are actually changing with the times simply because they decided to fight

It will be interesting to see how they solve the limit of the power a handheld can have in order to bring it up to par, or exceed, the power of the PS4/Xbox1. I’m going to have to assume that if it’s a hybrid, most of the ‘engine’ will be in a handheld machine that you can easily dock to your TV. I guess they could do

Why isn’t Del Toro brushing up on his Japanese and hound Kojima to make this game? They may not be able to make it exactly the way it was before, or call it “Silent Hills”, but something similar? I feel like the hype this whole thing has would make it profitable no matter what.

I just had a chuckle because I remember that the Swedish word for “sheathe” is the same as the Swedish word for “vagina”.

I love Japanese men’s responses to anything exciting. “OHH!”

I would love for it to sort of become its own story, with factions and societies forming with other players. Imagine you’re an explorer and you hear about this planet in a specific part of the universe, a planet with a civilization, where actual players run a functioning society, and it becomes your goal to make it

That’s cool. During this interview he seemed to describe it as an exploration game alone pretty much, which is why I wrote what I wrote. It’ll be very interesting to see how this game turns out for sure!

I feel like this game needs another angle to be truly successful. It doesn’t have to be super intricate, it doesn’t even need to be a story, but just something to keep it from just being a game about finding new planets and animals. For instance, some type of objective found on certain planets - maybe the machines

Question. I have the student version - at $49. I’m not a student anymore though however. It still says that my Prime account will renew for $49 in January... should I gamble on that, or go for this thing tomorrow?
