Black Hammer #9 - Really nice fill-in by David Rubin, with a fun Adam Strange pastiche. This book continues to be the other really great comic that Dark Horse produces that isn't Hellboy related.

Unlike Frank Miller or Mike Mignola, or even John Byrne, I've always thought of George Perez as a great artist, but not a particularly gifted writer. So I don't rate his run as highly as most, but it's sure nice to look at.

Other than Dune, this is probably my least favorite Lynch film. There's a nice little horror-thriller at its core, and I like the split narrative, but as the article states…this is the one Lynch film that feels very "of its time", between the soundtrack (especially Bowie and Corgan's trend-chasing), the Manson cameo,

That's fair! I think the first two arcs are especially strong. I was less into the end of the Bane story, but at some point I'm going to re-read all three, which are one long story basically.

I think you have to assume that their initial conversation was providing Bruce with a modicum of hope that Alec totally dashed by lashing out and murdering the perp. That's how I read it anyway.

I struggled with Snyder's run more often than I would have liked. There was always just this emphasis on theme over established characterization that really bugged me (I guess in the same way you don't like Catwoman). And while I agree that his original villains were mostly better, it felt like they were again, just

Only Koyama stuff I own are books by Michael DeForge, they're all pretty wild and wonderful though.

Boo, I'm loving King's run. It has a narrative unpredictability that I'm really valuing (as I said in my previous comment), and I was just so blown away by this week's issue that I can't wait to see what this Riddler/Joker story is about.

Locally, we have Dragon Con, which is fairly subpar if you're a comics fan. But I always make the trek to HeroesCon in Charlotte which is probably my favorite show nationally outside of SDCC (the mecca for me that I'm lucky enough to go to each year).

I got a bunch of those Archies in the recent Comixology sale. I've read the first trade of Archie, Jughead, and Afterlife.

Batman #23 - is literally the best Batman issue I've read in years. But I couldn't really get on board with the previous run like most people, and I love how much Tom King continues to have a surprising narrative approach with each new issue. It doesn't always work, but the effort is truly admirable. First time I've

I just can't get into this book…it just drags on and on and on, with no real discernible direction or notable characterization to hook me in. The art is nice though. Maybe if I read it all in one sitting instead.

Her appearance barely qualifies as being in it.

I would absolutely love to see Hellboy drinking with skeletons in live action.

I'm starting to wonder just what DC is gonna do with both JSA and LSH. I know the latter is popping up in smaller doses (the Allreds are doing a Batman 66 crossover with them, and Humphries is writing the LSH/Bugs Bunny book) - but when is the REAL relaunch happening? Magog is in the Fatal Five now, btw.

I kinda wish I had a whole run of the Acme Novelty Library. At some point I also want to complete a collection of Fantagraphics EC line. I've got 5 of the books so far, but I refuse to buy anymore until I read all of those.

First issue of Love and Rockets, got both Beto and Jaime to sign it a few years ago, and we had a nice chat about the contents and price.

Exactly. We've said it before, but it's the super thin bench that's causing them trouble more than anything else, and with Image and other options out there for bigger talent, I'm not sure what Marvel does to improve in that area. There's really no one to pilfer from DC right now that would move the needle (they're

Never go any further and you'll be better off.
