No kidding? I think his work with Cameron Stewart, Richard Case, Frazer Irving and Chris Burnham have all been pretty aces.

That's a point that totally passed me by in two screenings of this thing. Glad to know it though :-)

I think ScarJo is miscast in the role (I still regret that Blunt's scheduling there), but regardless the material she's working with in Ultron specifically is very gross and backwards-minded, whether intended to be so or not.

Like I said though, compared to "who's the real monster?", Lois shines far, far brighter.

Birthright is sadly the example I have to use whenever we talk about how sometimes "the guys who value the characters most aren't exactly the best suited to write them". Not a strong work.

I'm with you, but god that bar was incredibly low too. Lois is actually a living breathing character, with some agency in Man of Steel. She loses a lot of that in BvS, but Wonder Woman makes up for it. So yeah, go Snyder!

I mean, he never really dealt with the ramifications of that arc at all. As he basically skipped right over to Zero Year next, and by the time Endgame rolled around, all was basically forgiven very quickly.

Agreed on the Whedon bit…this conflict really hasn't been seeded well at all beyond a couple of forced disagreement scenes plopped right in the middle of his two films. Shedding Whedon was the best thing that Marvel Studios could have done.

No kidding, the Snyder/Capullo run is basically all surface with little depth. It's very pretty, but so many of its more interesting plot points were cribbed from the more idiosyncratic Morrison run that it followed. Seriously, that Issue 49 that everybody went nuts over is basically Final Crisis all over again but

Maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but the animated TDKR is utterly flat and boring imo, with mostly terrible performances throughout. I actually felt like the talking head bits stuck out even worse in that format, whereas on the page, it feels like a cacophony of visual noise, as I assume it's intended.

Rumors are that New 52 Supes is getting offed, and Tomasi does indeed seem to be writing the same Clark as Jurgens.

Definitely on board with Batman, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, New Super-Man and Suicide Squad. Cautiously optimistic about Superman, Nightwing and Justice League. Might check out Green Arrow and Aquaman as well.

Yeah, I was pretty underwhelmed myself. Easily one of the dullest Morrison comics I've read in some time (about on par with Joe the Barbarian I'd say), though the bar is low enough with these Earth One books that it may just be the best of the line…maybe…I have enjoyed Johns and Frank's Batman pretty well.

Only a B- eh? This might be one of the worst pilots I've ever seen. Syfy! Stop buying awful and cheap Canadian shows!

I wish he were penciling this run as well. I'd at least get nostalgic flashbacks if nothing else.

The Cornell to Morrison stretch on Action was nice, but yeah, other than Yang, DC has barely tried with Superman. Hopefully this meat and potatoes approach with Jurgens and Tomasi will pay off, particularly the latter. I feel like his sentimentality will work well there.

After watching this episode, I came to the realization last night that there's no DC live action thing that's for me. I like the tone here, but the writing/production values are so bad that it's borderline unwatchable. At the same time, the movie stuff repels me too…so, what's a guy to do that doesn't dig either

Yeah, I can't imagine the weekly crowd will warm to it, but I think DC has the bookstore audience in mind for anything that has Yang's name on it at this point.

Very much into:
King on Batman, Orlando on Supergirl, Larson on Batgirl, Hitch on Justice League, New Super-Man by Yang, Wonder Woman by Rucka, Suicide Squad by Williams

I thought Snyder's run was quite good in parts, and credit goes to having a pretty consistent run of Batman comics in the never very consistent New 52 era. It's not really *my* Batman, but that's alright, I enjoyed it nonetheless even if I never really loved it. Zero Year was probably the big highlight for me.
