Even the covers are so evocative…I love how each arc is framed like a movie sequel.

Making my way through some of my Image back-log (stuff I've fallen behind on like Descender, Lazarus, Trees and Injection)…

Do it man! I honestly think the first volume of that title's run is one of the finest set of comics ever made. (Trade-wise that makes up the first six books, 3 for Jaime, 3 for Gilbert).

Keep going, by the next book alone Jaime becomes a by leaps and bounds stronger writer, it's the kind of dramatic improvement that's staggering I think.
Beto peaks on the Palomar stuff with Poison River…and then I think his standalone work is where he shines best again (Julio's Day, Marble Season).

Wasn't it Iris' brother that was Wally's father? Rudolph West, right?

I remember trying to listen to these guys when I was a freshman in college around 2001-2002. I was instantly turned off by their super nasally front-man. Never put the record on again.

Of course this would come right after I bought all of the films on Blu-ray this year.

same here, though I did enjoy Castle in the Sky a good deal.

You live in the same district as me! *fist-bump*

The storytelling, the villain is something straight out of Kirby's Fourth World. That's the immediate touchstone that came to mind, especially the Jimmy Olsen run.

To be fair, I'm pro-Yang and fairly not into Romita, who is just a delivery vehicle for scripts for me at this point.

Drifting Classroom is generally considered a must-read as is Pluto.

It's funny, I loved how Kirby-esque Superman was this week, and I thought Cyborg was aggressively mediocre. Just so tired of Vic being so dependent on his father's acceptance.

A Serious Man is the Coen Bros best comedy in my eyes. It's a critical darling, but usually considered second tier Coens…I adore it.

Maybe, but good luck finding out! Unlike Warrior, he's not hellfire and brimstone about it that I've seen. And he seems to parlay his faith into helping the community. Very charitable fellow by all accounts.

At this point, I tend to gravitate more to cartoonists/writer-artists, whatever you want to call them. The Hernandez Bros, Sammy Harkham, Brandon Graham, Adrian Tomine, Farel Dalrympe etc etc…I think Morrison, Kot, and the Brubaker/Phillips collabs are pretty much my go-to books on the strength of the writer.

Yeah, sometimes he rips off Chris Ware instead.

Seeing all this dirty laundry about wrestlers makes me realize how much I appreciate Sting/Steve Borden. The dude is basically the Dale Murphy of the industry.

Yep, hard to argue with that essentials list, even if I think Guardians' charms wear off after the first viewing.

I really enjoyed Young Justice until it became the Blue Beetle mythology show. That first season has what might be my favorite DC Animated episode ever in "Misplaced".
