It's easily one of Marvel's weakest films, IMO.

After Age of Ultron (and Thor: The Dark World before it) my faith in Kevin Feige is definitely shaken.
Sadly, I found Catwoman impenetrable, which is a bit of a shame. This a book that really needs a jumping on point that isn't 8 issues ago or whatever.
Everything DC released this week…which if you hop over to The Beat, you can read my thoughts in greater detail…but, the highlights were easily Gotham Academy, Starfire, Batman, Constantine: The Hellblazer, and Section Eight.
As my better half said, the idea of being able to walk in grass in high heels is ridiculous enough…running in them? No way.
It's a tremendously boring movie and Trevorrow helms it as generically as possible. When the biggest thing I was worried about was whether Bryce Dallas Howard (who is awful by the way) was still wearing her heels or not, you know I had little engagement with what was happening on-screen.
Finally read my first trade of Blacksad, which has wonderful art but a pretty dull noir story.
I'm looking forward to Yang writing though, he's definitely better on the whole than Pak I'd argue, though on Superman it remains to be seen.
The story indicates that they split up it seems.
The best. Especially Solo.
Sivana is a mad scientist, and probably the preeminent version of that trope in the DCU currently. Morrison has played that full-tilt both in 52 and Thunderworld, including his funny little "heh heh heh" laugh. Smith went for this kind of Donald Rumsfeld thing, that in a brand new character would have been fine, but…
I liked Action well enough, but I'm more excited about the Superman title proper.
New Frontier as well, DC gets slagged a lot for its faults (and rightly so), but they're often far more experimental than they get credit for…certainly moreso than Marvel most of the time.
Convergence didn't really do anything except cover DC's ass while it moved to Cali, and give an in-story reason for why lots of these new books will adhere to their own continuity. Your Batman reading can continue unabated though.
The only thing I dislike about Smith's Shazam is the dated politics that misuse Sivana. That's one of the (many) things that Morrison got right in Thunderworld.
Yeah, the run following him did, this new issue though…it's less Arrow and more aiming for a socially conscious kinda thing perhaps but with mystic elements? Thus my Nocenti comparison.
Other than this week's wretched Green Arrow book, that reads like a bad take on Anne Nocenti's Daredevil, I had a lot of fun reading the new DC books this week…but specifically I recommend: Bizarro, Omega Men, and Midnighter. Also, god help me, but I thought Justice League was kinda fun.
Church and State is basically perfect comics.
Watched this, basically agree with this review. I was particularly saddened by my own expectations for where the story was going being dashed for something way more ordinary and pat.
So I tried to watch Summer Wars a few weeks ago, and frankly, I found it pretty terribly written. I liked the design aspects of OZ, but wow the dialogue was atrocious.
