Like in Texas? And how California is absolutely loaded given the insane tax burden? The problem isn’t presence of taxes or lack thereof, it’s basic economics - don’t spend money you don’t have. Texas is in better financial shape than other low tax states because they provide fewer services, for better or for worse

Wouldn’t the obvious outcome in this (admittedly unlikely) scenario simply be boosters funding just enough classes to keep them eligible?

Deficit != debt. While related, they are two entirely separate issues. Even a deficit of zero does almost nothing to solve the debt problem thanks to the magic of compounding interest.

Yea, this is an awesome idea. There’d also be the occasional Rafer Alston-type who pops in and shocks everyone who doesn’t know their background as a streetballer, which is always fun.

I’ve never understood the resistance to this idea. It’s a revenue stream for the league, teams, and partners that, for once, doesn’t involve more commercials. Adam Silver talked about this on Zach Lowe’s podcast - the biggest appeal of uniform ads, to him, is that it could help them reduce the number of commercial

“She couldn’t possibly be qualified to the same level that a man could be qualified to do that,”

Uh oh, Kris Dunn isn’t an amateur anymore

I’m being that guy, but you must have meant DA, not AD, right? District Attorney, as opposed to Attorney District?

Shouldn’t it be more noteworthy that San Antonio was on his list? I’ve never heard that before, and this was 2007, the year after the Spurs won arguably the least enjoyable Finals series of all time, they weren’t the Spursgasm we know today

I was thinking the same thing - well, yea, this isn’t a block by the definition of the rule, but Thomas deserves more credit than an offensive rebound, since he did prevent a DMC board/dunk

Thanks for writing this. I’ve had the same experience with moves in the past, though not as frequent. I’ve found it similar to the temptation in a relationship to allow your SO to soothe your insecurities and personal problems - when it ends, all the same problems you had with yourself are all still there.

Can’t recommend work slippers highly enough

I just hope he’s still doing he’s weird thing after getting the tip.

You weren’t kidding, that 60 pages is shockingly compelling for a racist mascot investigation. Sidenote: I played against the Coachella Valley High School that popped up a few years back for having the racist Arab mascot. I legitimately never saw it once when playing them, although my brother told me it was at most of

Yea, Christmas week (unless you work in ecommerce, in which it’s the week between Christmas and New Years) is one of the most underrated times to go into the office. Save your vacation days and enjoy the bank hours (10am-4pm with a long lunch).

The funniest part of this entire story is someone actually thinking this about the NFL:

It was never a thing in baseball. You’re thinking of “no one gets in unanimously,” which is unfortunately still a thing.

He seems to be the only guy from that era who tends to get a complete pass from the media. He’s often pointed to as a guy who “obviously wasn’t roiding.”

Does everyone make the ballot? How the hell is David Eckstein on it?

Pretty much just removing the immediate lazy option. You could jump in your car to get food, but it’s one more step. Also, it reduces the amount of drunk munchies you consume (no entire bags of chips, etc). Not a foolproof option, but small changes like this can help when you don’t need to make massive lifestyle
