Great article - such a wonderful time in music (and part of my childhood). I remember when MTV played videos from the list above. This list also needs Blancmange, Simple Minds' "New Gold Dream" and the debut release by Clan of Xymox.

I suspect you feel a little threatened (and turned on) by seeing two men kiss..
Oh, please. So, you are ok with extreme violence but get your panties in a bunch over a sweet and tender scene (between two men)?
What an idiot.
Nothing beats Saturday mornings with my vintage 70s/80s vinyl and black coffee. Screw these "record executives".
"New Gold Dreams" is timeless.
this video from a 1983 liver performance showcases some early 80s, Aussie new wave awesomeness: INXS, Divinyls and then Men At Work (at about 1:02:33):
Yes, he did. I haven't seen it yet. I saw DD once in 1984 with my Duranie-obsessed sibling and then again in Central Park in June 2008. They did not disappoint and nothing compares to hearing "Save a Prayer" in the park at dusk on a summer Friday in NYC.
they are actually still an excellent live band.
I would also add Viv Albertine's excellent new autobiography, "Clothes, Clothes, Clothes. Music, Music, Music. Boys, Boys, Boys.".
It offers a very interesting look at the scene in London during this time - mid-late 70s.
1. Read more non-digital books
2. Go to my local library at least twice a month
3. See at least 1 movie in a theater once a month.
4. Watch less TV (or watch only quality tv programs)
5. See at least 1 live performance (music or play) once a month
6. See more art (at least 1-2 art exhibits/gallery visits per month)
Viv Albertine's "Clothes, Clothes, Clothes. Music, Music, Music. Boys, Boys, Boys." This should be on every "Best Books of 2014" lists out there that includes non-fiction.
Inherent Vice (just finishing up)
Everything I Never Told You (Amazing so far)
Clothes, Clothes, Clothes, Music, Music, Music, Boys, Boys, Boys (just got this in the mail and cannot wait to start it!)
No mention of Walking Dead as one of the most diverse casts on TV?
Umm, he is Pakistani - South Asian, not Middle Eastern.
In syndication: Bewitched, Brady Bunch, Partridge Family, Gilligan's Island, I Love Lucy and Twilight Zone
Otherwise, the list included The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew (such a crush on Pamela Sue Martin), Mork and Mindy, Dukes of Hazzard, BJ and the Bear, Bionic Woman, It's a Living, Eight is Enough, Three's Company,…
Seinfeld
High Anxiety
Melrose Place (90s version)
Auntie Mame
Three's Company
Make sure to add "Wonderland" to your Val Kilmer marathon.
The The's Soul Mining is also a good place to start. I remember reading a rave review about it in Tower Records' Pulse magazine and picking up a cassette version the next day. Jools Holland's piano solo on "this is the day" is just too divine…
My Bloody Valentine: MBV
Mood Rings: VPI Harmony
Girls Names: The New Life
Daft Punk: Random Access Memories
