Tomorrow: "Lifehacker, brought to you by AAA!"

Can Jurgen replace (or at least succeed) Sunil Gulati? Pretty please?

Unless FIFA makes something up at the last moment to try to protect Brazil. Unlikely, but not totally out of the question.

I believe Barcelona technically have no say, because the World Cup is on the FIFA International Calendar. I know there's a mechanism for not letting injured players go on international duty, but I don't know if it applies to the World Cup or how it works when a player is injured during a tournament.

I think this is more "watching with bated breath". No one wants to miss the kick being taken because they were typing on their Twitter-machines.

Ugh, I can't believe these "reporters" actually get paid for shit like this.

I don't know if there's a team I'd hate to face in penalties more than the Dutch. Van Persie, Robben, Sneijder, Kuyt, Huntelaar (I assume he would have been 5th). That's a scary, scary group from the spot.

So if the guy does something stupid with the 5th pick, can't the next person just basically ignore it and act like they're picking 5th?

I wonder what Germans think of the popularity of displaying the Confederate flag in the American South. It's obviously not quite the same thing, but it seems like it would be similar to people there displaying the flag of Nazi Germany (if it weren't illegal).

I doubt we'll see anyone at Howard's level anytime soon, but Brad Guzan is definitely no slouch. Besides, goalkeepers have usually not been a problem for the US.

Credit to the back line as well. They did a pretty good job of forcing tight angles and bad shots. Belgium's finishing hasn't been very good throughout the tourney so far.

Uruguay 1930, Italy 1934, England 1966, West Germany 1974, Argentina 1978, France 1998.

That's definitely how I felt when Ukraine lost to Italy in 2006.

My office (in LA) did this, too!

We're all okay with ice hockey players halting the game so that they can punch the shit out of each other's faces

Grumpy, r fans are no more sensitive than baseball, football, basketball, hockey, golf, or NASCAR fans to people pointing out the flaws in their sport of choice. It's just that with soccer, most people don't care for most of 4 years, but when the World Cup rolls around, so many people come out of the woodwork to talk

What.

Boo-fucking-hoo?

What game were you watching? Greece had most of the possession and Navas had to make a whole bunch of saves, while the Greek keeper didn't have to make any. Greece definitely played the part of aggressors for a decent part of the game. That's probably because Costa Rica employs a similar style, so they took turns.

I mostly agree with you, but.... Plurality = majority in a binary situation.
