Kofi’s followup post was great. It can be tough to tactfully respond to Internet criticism, but he did it clearly, briefly, and thoughtfully.

I enjoy the periodically updated lists Kotaku does of the best games of each system, but sometimes it’s weird how multi-platform games take up spots on those lists, as they don’t really point toward what makes the specific console desirable.
It’s mostly the hair that does it. FFXV hair is a little dramatic, but it’s more wispy, which I think adds some realism. Cloud is old-school thick and spiky. I don’t disagree with you, the hair is a big part of the classic Cloud look. They could probably update it a little, though. It’ll most likely shake out…
I’m not offended by it, though sometimes the placement can be a little cringey. But so can a poorly placed monologue, flashback, fight scene, etc... It’s just another element that may or may not add to the point that the piece of media is trying to make. If we’re talking about ecchi or hentai, then it’s what they’re…
Barrett looks legit. Modernized, but still retaining the general feel of the original. Honestly, Cloud almost seems out of place by comparison- Barrett resembles what could be an actual person, while Cloud still lands in “some anime character” territory.
I’m gonna retract my comment about just needing Kingsglaive to understand. I got through chapter 13 last night. You get a bunch of incongruous, disjointed Ravus exposition and it’s really bad. Still maybe enough detail for a player to fill in the blanks, but it’s vague. Bad storytelling.
I haven’t finished the game yet. That said, I got that idea very clearly from watching Kingsglaive, but would have had no idea from just playing the game alone. In fact, it feels like the movie is practically required to understand the significance of certain characters and events in the game. Maybe they want to…
Not gonna lie, the game’s title implies something totally different than what it actually is. At least, for those of us with perpetually gutter-dwelling minds.
Heck yes. It felt like I was actually sharing a meal with Zap Rowsdower (while he tried to escape a cult).
Grindcore band name: “Slog of Bodies”
Honestly, this isn’t as bad as people think it is. I’ve mained a Frost DK, one of the least desirable classes since the expansion came out, as have never had an issue getting into mythics through the group finder, even since ilvl 826 or so. You can gear up past 850 through world quests, world bosses, and LFR, it just…
Usually when people talk about things becoming more solo-friendly, they refer to group content that previously required talking to people and organizing things. In that respect, it’s a lot more accessible now. But if you literally mean just activities that COMPLETELY lack human interaction? Then it’s just questing,…
I wish there was a way to acquire a level boost in-game, but only through a significantly challenging endgame activity. Like those proving grounds thingies that test your ability to play your class role properly- complete several challenges at max level, and that would earn an achievement and the right to then…
More now than ever. You can LFR (auto matchmaking) into most raid content just a few weeks after the “normal” versions come out. The loot is a bit less powerful, but if you’re not looking to push Mythic difficulties with a guild anyway, it won’t matter. There’s a group finder tool to aid in finding people for content…
Definitely some similarities with light level and ilvl. WoW just feels like there’s more to do, though. The world is bigger and more lived-in, leveling alts offers a drastically different play experience, class-specific questlines... Other than raiding, Destiny often ends up being strike playlists until your eyes…
Never said it wasn’t better than nothing. But, it is what it is. Destiny’s small updates tend to be a lot of fluff. It’s a small live team, and as someone pointed out in another comment, they don’t have the subscription income to work with either. Comparatively, Blizz seems to have more impactful content lined up, at…
Well that’s actually quite the same, yeah? Staff moved over to Destiny 2, small team left to run things. Kinda feels like what happened during Draenor as well, which could contribute to the large amount of content planned for Legion.
I didn’t start playing WoW until near the end of The Burning Crusade, so I can’t comment.
Oh yeah, this undoubtedly has an impact on the ongoing quality of content. Not to mention, Blizzard has income from a bunch of games, plus all sorts of related merchandise. Bungie pretty much just has Destiny, and at least judging by the Reddit and such, people aren’t regularly spending on micro transactions.
Bungie tried/is trying to use a model of big expansion, then lots of smaller regular free updates until the next major drop. Unfortunately, Destiny’s smaller updates are mostly novelty content and events- like, imagine if the whole WoW 7.2 patch was just the Darkmoon Faire- enjoyable for a week or two, but no real…
