Thank you! They’re both in remission now and I am still very close to my dad so it’s all good. I have been trying to keep as busy as I can - I have a chronic illness that means I’m often not up to doing much but I really want to finish the painting I started about four thousand years ago and have never finished!

Well, more money but it would mean moving to a more expensive area (D.C.). However, one job allows for telecommuting meaning I could potentially live in ATL part-time, allowing for better cost of living on a higher salary. It’s a balance. I haven’t gotten any offers; the job posting just closed I believe.

The last couple of years have been hard for me. Both my parents had cancer, my mother and I finally ended contact with each other for good (she’s a bad person, it’s a long story), I started a new job, and this week I ended a four year long-distance relationship. I have been dragging myself through by sheer necessity

I’m thinking about leaving my academia job (postdoc) for government/contract work. I’ve got my resume in a couple of places. Both pay significantly more than what I make now (like, more than double).

Hey friends, I hope you’re all doing okay. This is my first SNS for a long while, I started going out a lot more on Saturday nights and have generally been too pooped to post by the time I get home. I just ended a four year long-distance relationship. I am feeling a lot better now than I was at the start of the week

Congrats!

I’m reentering the workforce after 4 long years of compulsory unemployment, so right now I’m organizing my home office and gathering the equipment and supplies I’ll need. I bought a desk today! I’m anxious but also excited, if it makes sense.

I moved into my new house yesterday!

The official Star Trek Instagram page shared the picture of the cake I made for my dad’s retirement party. The cake could have been better if I had more time but I still feel famous!

To the one commentator weeks ago who wrote she was excited about signing up for her first aerial yoga class, THANK YOU. I took my first class last night. It was a terrifying, amazing and painful class. The fabric does hurt when all your body weight is being held by a rope-size piece of fabric. Not sure that I’d do it

The new Social Media Editor job is great. I’m having a blast, but the commute is slowly starting to get to me. I drive roughly 40-50 miles front to back for work in LA, and my old V8 Mustang is making my wallet weep.

Hellooo my nephew had a sleepover last night and he’s getting so big!!! Except for when he had to go to bed he wanted to sleep on the ground in the guestroom bc last time he fell out of bed and smoked his face off my glass nightstand and now is afraid of my too:(

Congrats on getting your job! I had a funday touristing around DC going to museums and getting sunburned.

So I’m having a really hard time. We just learned My poor little doggie has cancer and had about 6 weeks left. We’ve been together for over a decade, through 5 states, two marriages, and 8 homes. I can’t imagine my life without her. I’ve had her my entire adult life and it’s like the end of an era. :(

Hello lovely people. This is me on this day of emotional opposites:

Hello all, I hope you’re having a lovely Saturday!

If Tennessee Williams plays had air conditioning sums it up pretty well

yup, it’s OK in that instance or even in a big reveal on an episode of undercover boss. But that’s it.

This is the first summer I have spent in SF for 17 years. I managed to travel in the summer every year while I was on a teaching schedule, this year I am staying home, trying (and failing) to not be bitter about it. In my old neighborhood firecrackers and bottle rockets and other annoying shit was banging outside
