I’m in such a weird place right now because my husband’s gotta go overseas to bat cleanup for his terminally ailing mother and deal with his wonderful family solo. She should not have been traveling given her current health problems but she did and now everyone has to figure out whether to keep where she is or hope…

as someone who is maybe looking at something similar, I can understand how upset that makes you feel. however, you guys will be fine and there are tons of options - weekend visits, maybe he can explain his situation to the hiring manager(s), etc. etc. I wish you the best, and let’s just see how the interview goes…

We don’t really and considering how contentious things were for awhile, it’s best to just do one or the other side. We’re actually trying to start our own traditions and are hopefully putting some distance between his side and ourselves in about a year or so, when I enter grad school. It’s been challenging.

Yes, and we basically stopped attending family gatherings because his family refused to acknowledge the fact that I have my own family and might (oh so silly me!) occasionally want to see them on the holidays, especially since I am 3200 miles from them and have been living here for 6 years now. No I’m #notatallbitter…
