Isbell is awesome, love that he will still sneak in a DBT song here and there in his shows. You should check out Aaron Einhouse, its more Texas Country than Isbell, but I am really enjoying his stuff.

I always wondered where those guys fit in. I never really listened to country music but I love Tim Barry & Lucero. I guess more Americana?

The last one had one or two good songs and the rest were mid tempo snorers. His Drive By Truckers material was much stronger. I’ve not heard his new album yet.

Pretty remarkable. Not sure if nature/nurture/both, but Isbell is doing the Muscle Shoals tradition quite right.

The Wellmont, in Montclair. (Actually, come to think of it, I think it was two years ago.)

No shit! Southeastern was so good I thought there was no way he could top it. Proved me wrong.

Isbell is awesome...but I don’t think he’s country.

I saw DBT’s and Old 97’s at a theater in Jersey last winter. A friend of mine got so drunk he fell out the front door of the place. It was perfect.

i would’ve love to have been able to see isbell and stapleton together at the ryman.

Which is somehow save for a few tracks, his weakest solo effort in my estimation. I kind of wish he had spent another few months after Southeastern honing a few of those songs. But yeah, still miles ahead of most of the CMA dreck. See also: Niki Lane.

Stapleton is really good, but yeah, Isbell is the true savior right now.

Country Music has been fine for years:

Thanks, guy who’s still excited about his College Gameday sign from 2010.

I watched that movie in a college class. I have family in the area (they were extras that danced) and am Russian Orthodox as well. The wedding scene was literally like every family wedding in Upstate or Central PA I attended. Everyone else in the class was confused and agog at it, while I looked around confused, as to
