Lockdown: Much of the discussion from this episode has centered around the blast door map. With the ability to pause live TV and see all of the map in its entirety, speculation as to what's going on with the Island could easily build to a fever pitch. Myles wrote that with some episodes, he remembers moments like

Sorry I didn't respond earlier, I wanted to think on your responses and I haven't been online much in the last week.

The Whole Truth: With the supposed attack from the Others seemingly at bay, Sun feels safe enough to work in her garden again. Jin's not ready to move on though, and the best way in his mind to keep her safe is to destroy this garden so she has no reason to be there.

Maternity Leave: The focus here is supposed to be on Claire, with this being the only time in the first four seasons that she goes into the jungle without Aaron. And as it's been the case in recent episodes, there's more foreshadowing as Sun warns her that "a mother should never leave her child", which will have

I'll argue your last point, just a little bit. After Desmond tells Charlie about a supposed vision of Claire/Aaron getting on a helicopter, they go on the Looking Glass mission and Charlie's success leads to Aaron getting taken off the Island. While Claire remains on the Island for 3 more years, in the big picture,

"Jin is cold and rejecting because (rightly, it turns out) he doesn't trust Sun; probably hasn't for some time."

I feel like you can't go wrong with either. I just finished Season 1 a couple months ago and the anticipation to watch episodes like Pilot, Walkabout, White Rabbit was still there.

First, I appreciate, as always, you responding promptly. I think you're right about Season 2 being much more dark than Season 1, although Season 1 certainly had its moments, with Jack/Kate finding Charlie hung from a tree or Smokey eating the pilot.

I can definitely see a case for the manifest being Sawyer's starting point, but then we can go back even further, to when he gave the journals to Claire for the memorial.

My choices would be…

I like to say Season 1 is my favorite season, but Season 3 is probably the best season, a little more consistent high quality. Season 1 just starts on fire, up until about Episode 12. Season 3's second half though, starting with Not in Portland, is even more amazing, concluding with their best episode ever, Through

One of Them: There have been comments in the Classic section about how Lost didn't really become Lost until Michael Emerson shows up in this hour as Henry Gale, claiming to be a survivor of a crashed hot air balloon, but now suspected to be an Other by Rousseau and Sayid.

The Long Con: Now we're in a really good stretch for Season 2, and this episode had a real Season 1 feel to it, in my opinion. Locke wastes no time getting the statues away from Charlie and into the armory, where Jack is also putting the guns. Locke is grateful to Jack for deciding to put everything in one place,

If you're interested, a couple of us still have a discussion going in the Through the Looking Glass thread, under the Lost (Classic) section. I've been reviewing most of the episodes from Seasons 4-6, as well as the early seasons since I'm rewatching those now. We've come up with some interesting new discussions

I mentioned this on the Person of Interest finale thread, but I want to see the all-star version of these two shows, if there's a writer brilliant enough to write for all the great actors of Lost/PoI. Give me Emerson, O'Quinn, Amy Acker, Sarah Shahi, Jorge Garcia, Josh Holloway, Ken Leung, Elizabeth Mitchell…the list

It's definitely my favorite episode of that season; I had to watch it multiple times before the next live hour. We've probably said it a hundred times, but Matthew Fox simply does not get enough credit for the performances he put in, especially in the first and last seasons. He was overshadowed by the big guns

Hi, nice to see you too, @mattepntr:disqus! You should come over to the Through the Looking Glass thread if you still have interest in discussing any episodes. @avclub-387212ba9644c8b7f3d7178512148235:disqus and myself have had some good back and forths about Seasons 4-6, as well as the early seasons, since I'm

You pretty much said everything I was thinking. I forgot to include that earlier, but my thoughts about Christian/Jacob revolved around Christian, like Boone, being a "sacrifice that the Island demanded".

Interesting question…"Can Jack and Kate have a life together *on* the Island?"

Nothing wrong with that. There are a lot of layers to Lost, it just depends on how far down the rabbit hole you want to go.
