Well of course, no argument from me on that!

Yes. The Inquisition (at least in Spain, where the Anglo world will reference the most) had the most robust system of defense for the accused in Europe at the time and most likely only resulted in the deaths of about 4,000 people during the centuries it existed (compare that to the US justice system in its 200+ years

I read the first paragraph, realized this was written by Burneko without looking at the byline, looked at the byline, and immediately stopped reading. God this guy is awful.

Random question, I’ve recently been looking into buying the Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia (looks beautiful, and would love to learn more without reading 1000 different book/plot lines) but is it totally useless now that what is “canon” has changed? Or does it still hold? Google isn’t helping me on this one

On first play through, and played Skellige’s most wanted last night. I was so confused until I went to the internet and saw the thousands of articles about it :/

Surprised there’s been no review of Hearts of Stone...

3rd place in a World Cup is basically nothing? I guess I have lower standards than you.

We won’t have another coach of Klinsmann’s caliber for a very, very, long time. Good coaches do go to coach 2nd tier countries, but not when they’re getting the same insane media pressure they would be coaching England or Spain.

I read this. It should have won the Pulitzer!

Damn. I always wondered if suits were really cheap back then, because no matter how poor people were they were always wearing suits in old photos. Now it’s tough to buy a suit even with decent salary.

But could Zagreb win on rainy November night in Stoke?!

Do people really use the social functions of PS4 that much? I don’t have a single “friend” on the thing. Guess I’m a weirdo.

There are many, many, protestant sects which have varying views different than Catholicism. But if you had to pick one main sticking point, it would probably be that many protestant sects are 100% bible based, “sola scriptura”. The Catholic Church believes that instruction comes from both the Bible “scriptura” and the

The ultimate liberal slippery slope

I don’t necessarily think that they shouldn’t be punished. Hold them as a prisoner of war indefinitely, hell, execute them for all I care. Just be honest about it (though I’m not sure a female telecoms officer should be included in this.) Don’t pretend it’s some high minded “war crimes” trial where you sanctimoniously

It’s pretty self explanatory. “War crimes” are defined by the person who won the war. If you win, you won’t prosecute yourself for any crimes. It’s basically a form of further punishment/revenge.

Because it happened 70 years ago. But beyond that, I think “war crimes” trials are a sham, as is. They’re strictly victor’s justice.

Ugh these trials are so ridiculous, for a number of reasons. But this woman will be dead any day now, just let her be.

Ahhh I was thinking I maybe got that wrong but was feeling too lazy to check. Thank you!

Jesus man calm down. Italy hasn’t been decent for years (outside of an odd run from Inter or Juve) which I don’t think anyone can refute.

No one gives a shit what happened 15 years ago. I’m a Deportivo La Coruña fan and (sadly) still brag about making the semi’s in 2004. No one cares.
