Best work I've read here in a good while. Loved it.

RXEight is right. Those concept cars don't exist yet. The production versions will certainly weigh more.

On the Audi R8 "It's lower than a badger's badger."

Yep, that's my favorite too.

Well you learn something every day (if you pay attention). I always thought the Covair was mid-engined. I still think they're the prettiest thing GM ever made.

AND front-wheel-drive.

Okay, as someone who's driven one of these all I can say is you're going to die in 10 seconds while going backwards. They were tons of fun but were basically designed to build up speed and then do a ground-loop.

914 owner says "Whuut?"

No, I drive an M3 (hard) and I'm just careful where I park. But lets be honest, we all care at least a little bit what we look like or we'd all be drive Caterhams.

These are all awesome cars, but sadly what the world sees is:

@RyGuy Okay, I deserved that. I'm back on track now.

Come on! Stop asking a question and then changing it when posting the answers. The QOTD did not ask for the most awesome AUTO start-up sound. It asked for the most awesome start-up sound (open-ended). Phrase the question carefully or live with it. I love cars but the flywheel-assisted radials and the jets were the

I came here to post the same thing. Here's the one I thought of. T-6 trainer. I love hearing the flywheel spin up with it's turbine-whine sound before engaging the crankshaft. Very cool.

How about a Bronco getting it on with a Pinto?

I'm surprised Accipiter hasn't posted a buteo joke yet.

The article made it sound like this was a problem of the 1980s. My point is that in the '90s and beyond it's still happening. I used my car as an example simply because it's what I have and I'm miffed that it was neutered to the tune of 76hp compared to the Euro version. Every time I see a fantastic new European auto

Tip of the Day: If sued by a lawyer who drives a 1-series simply hire a lawyer who drives a 5 series or higher. Problem solved.

Well, I don't want my car to be stolen so I'll just have to not say any more about how many doors it has. ; )

So why is it still happening? We get none of the great RS Audis for example. I have a US model E36 M3. It has 76 fewer horsepower than the Euro model (which had a different engine altogether). It can't just be about leaded gasoline. Why can't we get the good stuff even today?

Apparently the best alternative to the Ring is right in front of my house. I live on a road with a 3/4 mile long steep winding climb followed by a 1.25 mile straight. My house is 200 yards down the straight. Every ricer and squid in town does the mini hill-climb and then blasts down the straight like I'm keeping track
