I was saying, "boo-urns!"

Chai tea and tai chi …

Isn't it from later Simpsons?  The ep with the Mary Poppins character who sings "The Half-Assed Song"? Or do I misremember?

I think the Rashomon joke was actually:

Red Letter Media (the guy that does those hilarious SW prequel reviews) has an entry on this film, conveniently pointing out all its plot holes.  Highly recommended.

But, but …. Abrams' film has so much!  Red matter! A starbase conveniently within view of Vulcan on which Kirk meets Scotty for the first time (thanks to Spock jettisoning him at just the right place and time)!  Scotty's funny little dwarf sidekick!  Kirk's comically inflated hands!  What's not to like?

Which in Wisconsin is called Cheesebuster.

Frighteningly, this is exactly the sort of thing that could actually come to pass these days.

And then he should have put in a bunch of line breaks and ended with "OF COCK!"

You forgot the obligatory "amirite?" tag.

We're all having a gay old time here.

Part of the whole attempt at surrealism, like replacing the adult voices with trumpets.

Hmm.  I must be really sarcasm-impaired today, because it almost sounds as if you're arguing that it's okay to raise tax rates on the rich since they have ways to avoid paying them anyway.

"The Trees," from Hemispheres (1978).

Thomas Jane = love child of Christopher Lambert and William Shatner.

I get jokes.

Jobs only "raked in the money" because many people chose to PAY him that money in return for what they subjectively felt to be a worthwhile product.  If Jobs had failed, like many others have failed, no one would be talking about him.

Well, it gets to the point as I might have written elsewhere that people start deliberately earning less income to keep themselves below the penalty brackets, so that can end up backfiring.  If you realize you're working six months of each year for the government, you might just decide to work less.

The use of deductions and shelters are not "dodges" and they're not dishonest. They were written into the system specifically.

No they didn't in actuality … the use of tax shelters and tax avoidance schemes was rife in those times.
